Of course you can still eq your alts and stuff. What I mean is, the need to have a character dedicated to storage is over. You can still do it if you really want to for some bizarre reason, but it won't be *neccessary*.

Interesteing idea Caedym, I'm not sure how feasible it is though...maybe it'd make a good SCT sometime after opening. I'll keep it in mind in any case.

I believe we have such a skill - it's called assassinate and was added along with the other rogue changes near the end of Soj2. I don't remember the details of it of the top of my head, but maybe D2 will feel like further elucidating it.. :)

This is already in the works, in fact most of it has already been coded and tested. :)

More details will follow, but I assure you that the days of storage characters are over.

You're so subtle, Ilsha ;) We addressed this before Soj2 shut down. The 30 second mem penalty was deemed to be too unfair and restricting across the board, so we eliminated it. Later on, when the MUD had matured a bit, it become apparent that the loss of this restriction combined with the new emphas...

Other than the Monk question, these are all area questions, so I'll leave it to someone else to answer. Monks, however, are still history. We just dont' feel they fit in our gameworld. There are several other fighter classes to choose from, and Invokers have taken their place as a pure damage class....

I used tf for a number of years. The thing I liked best about it was "hooks". Why? Cause you could make auto-spelling corrections!

My favorite (heh) :

/hook -replace "jsut" "just"

(syntax is horribly wrong, but you get the idea!)

Sounds reasonable. And it doesn't take any coding, just help file work - so I'm all for it! :D

Worldwide room size limits would most likely be just far too difficult a task to balance correctly - Sojourn has ALOT of rooms, getting them all just right would be....ugh. However, enforcing limits in a select few rooms where the zone maker wishes it is more feasible, though possibly at conflict wi...

Well. That was how I originally set out to do the caster changes. Then I got to thinking.. What's the difference really, between one mage class that can spec in five different kinds of magic, and five mage classes that automatically spec their chosen kind of magic? The former is hard as hell to bala...

Yeah, the idea is to combine the best elements of egroups and UBBS to form the UberBoard.

Anyways, still thinking about it and whether it'd really be feasible. I'll let you all know if I start work on it.

But it does solve it... But instead of waiting to roll your character until you see an admin online, you can just roll it with a random name and play with it. Then when you do see an admin, you would request a name change to the name you really wanted. Isn't that better than just waiting around hopi...

Harthorm, your idea is probably best. That would allow anyone to get in the MUD whenever they like, allow them to get the name they really wanted at some point, AND ensure that no crap names ever get in. (Unless the generator makes em!) That's most likely how we'll do it. As for the god visibility t...

I haven't decided for sure to stick with this BBS software, but it was the fastest thing I could get up. We'll see what happens...maybe I'll code my own with jsp or something ;)

When is the MUD opening? "First quarter of 2001". That's all I can say for now. Sorry guys, I know the waiting is tedious, but we can't launch until we finish the things we have in development - and I'd really hate to make a date and then break it. When we're a little bit further along we'll anounce...

Besides, the those rattling death crys are a pretty good indicator of which weakling caster got switched to. ;)

Welcome to the Soj3 BBS!

Hello everyone and welcome to the new Sojourn III Web BBS. There are only two rules I'd like to ask you to follow on here: 1) No personal attacks. 2) No discussion of illegal activities. The above two are non-negotiable, so please abide by them. The Staff of Soj3 is very busy with developing the MUD...
