So are any of you going to explain why it's right to do that one test, but not the hundreds of others that detect rare or uncommon diseases and conditions? There are certain tests that are done, but many, many, many others that are left undone. "You'd rather just let all of them die. So sorry i...

Re: Cancelling my health insurance.
Massive eyeroll here. Idolatry is when the worship of something other than God takes precedence over God. It all falls back to the whole "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" thing. When the pursuit of medical care supercedes one's faith in God, it can be considered idolatry. The pursu...

Kiryan, yes, you're right. When I was using pre-existing, I was using it pretty generally, and I apologize for the confusion (I was also at work at the time, and have to be as brief as possible on insurance matters when I post from there). Oh, Kiryan, have you looked into whether or not your employer offers some kind of HCA/HSA high deductible policy?
Considering your feelings on financial waste, I don't think I'd suggest an FSA.

I was wondering why it seemed like such a big deal. The type of policy Kiryan is referring to, unless I'm wrong, is just a high deductible policy. You can buy policies like this with a $5000.00 or $10000.00 deductible, so in the case of something catastrophic, you'd be out of pocket for less than th...

Pregnancy's not a pre-existing condition on employer funded group plans. If you have to take out an individual policy, or end up in an ASO type of policy, things are very different. ASOs don't even have to follow state mandates.

In some ways I agree with Kirayn. Kiryan and his family are young, which typically equates to reduced risk. I'm rather surprised his premiums are as high as that considering their ages. If the situation was reported truthfully, then I'm pretty sad by the entire situation. Kiryan, that whole "eye of the needle" concept doesn't take into account the rather large number of Christian theologies today that preach riches on earth are a gift from God. You'll find this concept in well over half the large ministries nowadays. I'd prefer to see a breakdown of charita...
