Rho, Okay, a pet peeve of mine is when someone takes a look at the ranger skill list and assumes that rangers are a hybrid of warrior and caster. For that matter, it also bugs me when someone says that a paladin is a hybrid of a warrior and cleric, but that's something for another thread. We are MUC...

Oh, and Waelos, something that's bugged me for some time is whether you mean wood or savage/grugach elf when you say wild elf. They're kinda different (as in one asks intruders to leave before tearing them to shreds, the other doesn't bother asking) but both can be called wild elf depending on the s...

Heh, I think we need to get Arishae in here to talk about his experiences as a human ranger back on Toril Waelos =p Actually, I don't really see a problem with human rangers. Infravision was useful, but you still really need a torch to do any real exploring. According to what Kerloria told me, it wa...

Well, I've played both (Trel was a grey on Toril and a half on Sojourn 2) so I can give a bit more info. Both times I got to level 42, but the hit point different was quite big. As a halfelf I had around 450 hit points. That was about 100 or more than I had at that level with a grey elf. I think tha...

Hmmm . . . well Acheron is one of the lower planes so getting there might require more than just a trip to the nearest portal in town . . . course, if the townspeople don't mind the idea of having what's basically a portal into a hell in their town, then all the better for ease of access (and gettin...

Uh Joth, 3 high level rangers said that they DID use bash sometimes in this thread already =p Not against anything that big, but it has come in VERY useful at times. Surprise wasn't actually in the game even though we could learn it and improve the skill at the guildmaster, kinda like trap. But back...

Well, the gods decided a while back that they didn't want the mud to have an oriental flavor. While the continent of Kara-Tur is to the east of the realms of Faerun, it's just not something the gods want to put in. And as has been mentioned, mercs were taken out once so I doubt they'd every be put b...

One thing I'd just like to toss in is that I felt one of the class's advantages was adaptibility. We might not tank, rescue or bash as well as a warrior, sneak around as well as a thief, or cast as well as a real casting class, but I know that being able to do multiple useful things poorly has saved...

Well I touched upon it in another thread but I might as well toss in a few things from a player's perspective before Shevy reply. First off, hitter eq got downgraded big time all across the board. That made us warrior types weaker in terms of damage done while casters weren't affected. Next, invoker...

Well Ruhr, things changed quite a bit since you were gone =p Not having haste items wasn't too much of a problem since we had enchanters that had it at 4th circle to keep us spamming damage 4 or 5 times a round. And archery was upgraded to greatly improve the damage and make it a very useful ability...

Yeah, lightning bolt was kinda underwhelming for a 9th circle spell . . . Granted, I could cast it in between rounds if I made my quick chant but the chance of not succeeding in quick chant and then losing one round of attacks kinda made it just something to toss around for fun. And while magic miss...

I remember this discussion back on either the old BBS or on the code boards . . . Part of the problem is that the lich thing is really something that makes necros unique so giving it to a lot of classes kinda ruins the point. Also, necros wind up facing some downsides when they go lich. It's not jus...

I'm looking forward to dragging the dead asses of my elven and half-elven friends outta bad situations, and also getting them into plenty as well =p And also to see the balance changes, finally get a windsong, get past level 42, and hang out with old friends.
