If you play guitar, read this!

Ok, I have a '78 Gibson Les Paul Standard, and I play through a mid-sized crate amp. I have been having hella trouble controlling the feedback with this beast (not that i get microphonic feedback, but harmonic feedback...the good stuff). I was wondering if any of you fellow guitarists could toss me some tips as to how to produce high pitch and lower pitch feedback and how to manipulate it.

Also, If anybody has any clue as to do some of the stuff tom morello does, tips on it would be greatly appriciated. I can do a few of the things, but damn is that guy a genius!
