Just cause some newfangled fancy sport in the colonies recently decided to use the name does not mean the biggest sport in the world should change its name.

lol thats hysterical. "the colonies" thats classic. Go ahead and keep calling soccer football if you'd like, just make sure it has the feminine verb structures around it, cuz soccer is for girls, and real men play football. The reason you cant use your hands is so you wont break a nail.

Baseball: 1993 Phillies
Basketball: 2000 Sixers
Hockey: Flyers (the year that they went to the cup and lost to the redwings)

I'm j/k here guys. I love sports, but I'm not well versed enough in sports history to say who the best teams are.

Football - Denver Broncos 2 championship teams or if I wasn't biased ... San Francisco in the 80's

Hockey - Montreal Canadiens in the 70's
Team Canada, Summit Series

Baseball - Yankees (pick a point in history really.) 1920's, 1950's, current

Basketball - for me, a toss up...Lakers or Celtics in the late 1970's to the 80's.

Soccer - who cares? Sue me, I'm Canadian...I think we had a team ranked 120th in the world once...

hockey- oilers mid 80's
basketball- the bulls 72-10 team, i am sure others will debate this but i think the record and the level of competition that they faced makes this pretty simple.

I think that describing the US as a 'colony' in regards to a sport that was first *organized* in 1863, is a bit much.

As far as football for the rest of you how can you debate this. Miami Dolphins in '72 was the only undefeated team in NFL history.

Oh and I love curling and I'm from Philadelphia. Got hooked on it when I was doing a lot of traveling in Canada. Made my wife watch the sport when the Olympics were on. She thought I was touched at first then saw the skill that was required and became a convert.

American Football: 72 Dolphins only undefeated team ever in NFL history.

Baseball: I gave up on the whiney little pricks when they threatened to strike/lock out this year. They can all get bent as far as I'm concerned.

Basketball (NCAA): UCLA dynasty of the 60-70's, next would be Duke under coach K.

Basketball (pro): who cares, the rules are applied differently depending on if you're a "superstar" or not. I lump it in with professional wrestling.

Hockey: many would say Canadians of the 70's, or Islanders of the early 80's, or Oilers of the mid-late 80's. I gotta go with my hometown Av's from 2001 w/ Sakic, Foresberg, Roy, and Borque.
