I want movies in which everyone fu##ing dies. In which hordes of depraved and evil devils overrun the sickening bastions of goodness, with explicit scenes of torture, rape and unspeakable horror, and then some. Scenes which would make your stomach turn and make 99% of people leave the theatre. Nothing lives. Except in slavery and pain. Bad guys win, and the world becomes a pit of evil filth. No stupid hollywood love plots, plodding do-good chump heros, endless useless conversations, preaching and speeches or goodie two-shoes victory of goodness and fairness over evil this time around.

Cherzra weirdo.

some of my favorite movies: Stalingrad - everyone dies. Graveyard shift - everyone dies. The Thing - everyone dies.

Then for you, I will only choose the Elric Saga.... everything that is good, or evil... friend, or foe... dies at the hands of Elric

They will all drown in pools of blood.

Elminster is the creation of the ultimate Monty Haul Powergaming Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Anything without flaws is boring in my opinion.

They should make a movie about those Toolkin, or Torkein or whatever books.... That would be a cool idea!

I would give my right arm to see a series or singular movie based around the 'Runelords' saga.

For Once, I can whole heartedly agree with Ragorn. Completely without reservation, Ender's Game would make a kick ass movie.

On a similar note, I'd like to see a movie made of Starship troopers. (And don't give me any spam about that being done. I don't know what the hell that movie was, but it was _NOT_ starship troopers. Read the book)

Nuff said.

Rumor has it they are making an Ender's Game movie. Orson Scott Card has worked on screenplay and they are putting it together. There's hope!

Why in God's name would you want to see your favorite books perverted into a hollywood feature film? Haven't you learned your lesson about what happens when they take a book and make a movie of it? ESPECIALLY fantasy stuff. Rumor has it that the LotR movies are degenerating pretty badly. Dungeons and Dragon's was stupid.

What's the second thing that makes a movie based on a book suck? If the book is long. Bye bye to any wish for a jordan novel or Tempus wanting Atlas Shrugged. Any long novel made into a feature length film will suck.

Haven't you people seen Jurrasic Park and The Lost World? Weren't those enough to keep you away from this kind of crap? The books rock because they ARE books. Leave the movies to the screenwriters I say, let the novelists plunk out the epics sagas that take you weeks to finish.

Gormal... I think it goes without saying that when we want movie made from our favorite books we expect it to be done right. You might have to sit through a 10 hour long movie for the Riftwar Saga.,.. but that would be fine if they did a good job on it. Image

I intentionally used the words "feature length film":P Yes the 10 hour movie stuff can be done, but only as tv mini-series like DUNE. I don't think a studio would take on such a huge undertaking for a bigscreen feature intended to be big.

I would never expect it to be good, I would expect it to dissapoint me as I always am when I see a movie I've read a book of. Hollywood sucketh compared to a good writer.

Long live the written word!

An Ender's Game movie would most likely end up being an action flick. They'd probably take out all the crap with Val and Peter, all the Giant's Game stuff, and probably some of the other non-battle related scenes.

And that's just fine with me. I would still pay $7 to see kids playing 3D laser tag.

I, for one, have learned that no movie will ever do justice to a novel. But when you watch the movie after reading the novel, just think about the two as being seperate. I loved Jurrasic Park, the book, and movie. I knew the movie would be different, but I watched it for what it was, not trying to compare it to the book, and I enjoyed it much more. I don't know, works out that way for me.

I agree on making a movie or a mini series out of "A Song of Fire and Ice", the book series by George RR Martin. I can't begin to tell you how good these books are, how much they stand out above most bread-and-butter fantasy literature. Trouble is, ONE movie made on the books would suck badly... that's why the mini series format would work better.

If you haven't read them, do yourself a favor and pick up the first one "A Game of Thrones"... My favorite characters:

Jon Snow (of course!)
Sandor Clegane, The Hound (BAD man with a lot of tormented anguish)
Thoros the Red Priest (kickass silly sword)
Tyrion Lannister (a big man inside a deformed body)

And for you anti-Hollywood people out there, this saga is NOT for the weak... No silly David Eddings-esque good guys who are flawless gods and happy endings all around... man I hate Eddings' silly books.

Off the top of my head, I'd like to see Evermeet and Cormyr in a mini-series type of thing. Of course they'd have to restructure how the books were written,b ut I think that it would be good to see either of those books as a mini-series... both would suck as a 2hr movie.

I think the premise here is to make a movie out of the book, and actually have the movie rock. For years I waited for a D&D movie, and too bad the one they made sucked. I would love to see Wheel of Time made into a series of like 20 movies (for the whole series) with all of the movies ruling. Kind of like the original Star Wars trilogy. They were all pretty good.

This is pretty easy for me, my favorite books are easy to remember:
1)Pawn of Prophecy (David Eddings)
2)Wizards First Rule (Terry Goodkind)
3)Fairyland (Paul J McAuley)
4)Enders game (Orson Scott Card)
5)Aeon (cant remember the author, a good sci-fi book.
Anyway those are mine
Anyone like McAuley?

All the ones I would like to see have already been mentioned... Pawn of Prophecy (even the whole series), Wheel of Time Series, Death Gate Cycle, Drizzt! (specifically the Icewind Dale series)... but definitely nothing in feature film length.
And I gotta agree - the D&D movie SUCKED... would have been an ok movie had it not had anything to do with TSR, but I still probably wouldn't have wanted to see it twice. The acting was horrible, and the storyline even worse. CG was cool though.

Adept Series - Anthony (have ALWAYS wanted this!)
Shannara Series - Brooks
Belgariad - Eddings
Timeline - Crighton
Memoirs of a Geisha - Golden (supposedly being worked on by Spielberg)

This of course assumes that Hollywood would actually produce a movie that would be true to the book and not modified by some self-important schmuck who thinks he can out write the original author.
