Elves: More than one type

Not sure if this has been brought up before, and what the outcome was, but why are all elves grey elves? It seems that this name encompasses all the grey, gold, and wild elves. I'm just wondering if it would be possible to change "grey elves" to just "elves". Not institute new races, just rename the existing one. It would give us players more of an opportunity to RP, because there are differences between the different types of elves.

I for one would prefer to play a gold elf as my enchanter.

How do the elves and other players feel about just changing "grey elf" to "elf".

I wasn't suggesting changing anything about the race statistics, just the name. Some of the best fighters and mages in elven history were gold elves.

I just think that it would be fun to be able to RP one... I guess you could do it as a grey elf, but having a grey elf with golden skin just doesn't sound right

In a twist to this I see it making some sense. Have a choice at creation screen for Gold Silver and Green each would get a bonus to attribute and a negative. Greens would be higher in Str or Con but not as Wise or Smart. Gold the opposite. Silvers would be the elves we have now.
This should prolly be the same for Drow depending on which god they choose after all Llolth (sp?) isn't the only one.

Sorry Zogur, but Drow already have their own race name, so why would they want to be under "elf", and that would also make some coding problems I'm sure.

As for giving different types of elves different bonuses, I'm against that. All that I'm asking is to change "grey elf" to "elf"... just a simple text change and nothing else.

Otherwise it would result in a bunch of new races... if it's just "elf" for all goodie elves, then there wouldn't be much of a difference.
