Search

Postby Kegor » Mon Feb 24, 2003 1:20 am

Seems to me that search could use an upgrade of sorts to make it more effective after doing it so many times. The perfect way to do this I think would be to make it a wisdom based skill that improves with usage. So higher level people that have searched a lot will naturally be better at it than a level 1 person just from experience on knowing what to look for in certain things etc. A level 50 person, regardless of intellectual prowess, should be able to search better. Especially for races or classes that do not rely on int as a main stat.

Please consider equalizing search and making it a universal skill such as bandage or swimming, etc. I think it would improve exploration and many other aspects of gameplay. Thanx.

Jaznolg is a drow mage.. you dont think he already has *** int? I have *** int. My snake has *** int. It's easy to fail a handful in a row and I often do.

There are different levels of difficulty on hidden entrances. Think this was addressed in another post. Instead of completely altering "search" the silliest hidden entrances which give people the hardest times should be pointed out and have their difficulty levels checked or be changed to not be hidden. No, you're not going to forget where that secret entrance into SSC is in real life, but you're not going to go back to kill them all a second time in real life, either.

Another thing you could do is add a direction parameter to the search command. search with no parameters searches all over, search with a direction has 6x greater chance of finding something hidden in that direction.

Eilorn.
Now, we can do this the hard way, or... well, actually there's just the hard way.

I think its great idea. Look at this log. its with 103 human inteligence. I really think level should influence search. Maybe make sense life incease the chance of finding hidden life forms?

Rogue's Circle
Rogue's Circle near the eastern edge of Calimport is the focus for all
organized crime in the city. Nondescript buildings line the road, many
boarded up and seemingly deserted, but shady deals take place in each and
every one, with different branches of the thieves and assassins guild each
filling a niche in the world of deceit. Gambling, prostitution, forgery,
piracy, spying, and street crime as well as a host of other interests are
represented here, all controlled by the guildmaster. Rogue's Circle starts
and ends at the guildhall, and despite appearances to the contrary, the hall
is heavily guarded at all times.
Exits: - South - West
You sense a lifeform nearby.
