As it is.. the roller rolls all of your stats individually, making sure that the average is either a certain number, or that your stats only add up to a certain number total.
Would it be possible to put in an option of rolling points, and then PC's getting to assign those points to their stats?
I don't know how many times I've made a warrior with heroic strength bad con and heroic power.. I'm sure its all fine and good for he who wants to roleplay a guy with a lot of PSP.. but would it really be that wrong to give us a little more leeway in tailoring our characters?
Just a thought..
Just an idea..

That's a good point kan with just one problem. Everyone has an autoroller. So you get the scores you want. Instead of telling the DM, you tell the program and it will roll for six hours or whatever to you get what you want. I always got the feeling that the good RP on this mud had nothing to do with natural stats.

i want perfect 20s. so i can rp him.
( and benefit from the 18/22 etc.. )
thats why you roll a character. so you can rp.
no flame intended, and no belittlement going either. thats just the way it is. keep rollin till yer happy. :D
#1: this isn't dungeons and dragons, there is no dm..let it go.
#2: Stat balance is about averages.. one of the main goals of the roller is to keep stats averaged no. So just give a different option for rolling.. Sure if you were a warrior you could give yourself 100 strength/agil/dex/con, but you'd have 40 int/wis/cha/pow.. and thats IF you got the average roll.
If that isn't an acceptable option then maybe put a little more power into the player as far as rolling goes.. instead of just pumping out 8 stats in the random spots.. pump out the 8 stats and let the player assign them..
ie:
(1)heroic
(2)good
(3)mighty
(4)bad
(5)fair
(6)fair
(7)mundane
(8)average
Which would you like to assign to strength? (1) etc..

OR, just get rid of the roller altogether. Give 600 stat points, and stipulate that no stat can be below 50. This way a perfect top row would mean a bottom row of all 50.
Or some combination of minimums.
Let bards have 680, though :P.

Now, we can do this the hard way, or... well, actually there's just the hard way.

I dont think they will ever change the fundamentals of the rolling system, because it basically means a pwipe to do so.
