Ideas for Rogue passive skills

Postby Pabo » Mon Mar 03, 2003 6:19 pm

Just a couple passive skill ideas to spice up rogues:

Apprasial: Similar to lore, the rogue gets to ID the item by looking at it (apprasial command). Limited to a certain amount of times per day. Perhaps increase uses by level. Also after apprasing an item, it can be sold at the store for a little more than usual, because the rogue knows the value of the item. Intelligence stat would affect this, maybe wisdom also.

Haggle: Rogue can try to haggle with shop keepers to sell items for a little more and buy items a little cheaper than listed price. Charisma would be the main factor in this skill.

Throw Lightsource: Allows the rogue to throw a light source into an adjoining room. A good way for rogues to light up the room to see what is in it before advancing. Perhaps make an item sold in the rogue's shop just for this use. Also this might be used by other classes, but with some sort of penalty or failure. Affected by dexterity.

Poultice: Since a Rogue is proficent in poisons, they should be able to make counter poisons. Poultice would remove poison from a victim, perhaps even blindness and paralysis, dependent on proficecy. If the skill fails, it would lessen the amount of time player is affected. Can only be tried once per player until the maladictions wear off. Either there can be 'poultice kits' sold in stores and/or if there is no kit, can only be used in nature rooms where the rogue can try to search for the herbs needed to counter the poisons. Skill will be dependent on wisdom.
