Idea for Paladins and Anti-Pals

The use of 2handers is obviously the specialty for these classes. While they are great classes how about adding in a 2h only weapon skill that works on the riposte system. Gives us a extra attack sometimes and will add a bit more variety to further seperate these classes from the warriors and to keep the warriors killer give them a sort of similar attack that can be used with any weapon. Just a idea )

Antis and paladins already get 2h bash (or am I mixing up different muds now)... and they get super, I mean absolute super, bonus for hitting. Wield your 2hnder and you already have practically all the hitroll you need, leaving all the other slots open for damage and hp eq... Plus their 2hnders are meaner than anything a warrior can get, and their spell lists have been revamped giving them meaner and cooler spells.

Who says antis are better at 2hnding than warriors? I disagree, there are lots of warriors in the realms specializing in 2h...

Well Anti's and Pallies have a bonus to bashing shieldless. They are fairly reliable at bashing with a big 2 hander while warriors were not.

A level 50 pally can pretty much reliably hit most mobs with a hitroll of 14. This allows them to put more eq slots into dam.

PS - that being said, they are in no way superior hitters (unless they get some sort of artifact or spanky quest weapon). They are a sort of multi-use backup heal/backup tank class, IMHO. The lack of shield skills does make a huge difference...

I remember back when there were no shield skills almost no goodies wanted to play a warrior because they could just play a pally instead if they wanted to tank, and get innate pfe. (or Merc if they wanted headbutt.)

The hit bonus that us paladins got with 2h weapons used to be insane. I was like 8/42 at level 50 and would never miss. I don't think any other class could have a hit bonus that low.

A level 50 warrior would need 21-26... 24 was probably the best for hitroll. I know some people who would use 21 hit, but that was too low in my opinion.

Heh, try high 20's instead, group leaders last wipe would ask warriors what their hit was and make everyone wear at least 27 hit or leave the group.

Mid 20s was about right.

29-31 for Rangers.

Like, 30-34 for Assassins.

Paladins? 15. 8 in one case apparantly Image

Amaron at level 50 used 15 hitroll to never miss. You can go lower and you will only miss on high lvl wraiths, etc, but I stuck to the hit everything mentality Image

As for new ideas for paladins, what about holy aura for paladins in light of unholy aura for antis? It would seem appropriate for this class of holy warriors.
