what to do with platinum
what to do with platinum
I was thinking to some idea which makes platinum and the accumulation of it somewhat worty.
My idea is:
Every month ,quarter or whatever you like, there is an auction.. where the gods auction a nice unique piece of equipment (you can call it artifact if you like). Starting bid may be set very high to 100.000 plat or even more.. and then the various players bid on it
Item is not transferrable and if lost is replaced for a fee.
this will make platinum be worth something ... and people will use it to trade even equipment which is not usually traded for cash (zone equipment).
any opinion?

100.000 plat!
That reminds me of Dr. Evil asking for his demands from the Gov't and them laughing at him
Actually if I remember correctly there is going to be rooms that players can construct, like houses for eq storage.
Want a fountain in your house? That'll be 10k plats please.

I don't like that plan. That would mean I might as well do nothing but make trade runs all day like everyone else, just to get a shot at this eq. Why zone? Why quest long and hard? Just buy eq which nobody else can ever get this way...
I have heard rumors of how absurdly rich necromancers were, but let me assure you that regular classes didn't have 500000 plat in the bank (try taking off 2 zeros and you're near a more realistic amount).
Here's what I did with the sparse money I had:
buy armor, levitate, sense life, cure poison potions
buy bottomless bags
buy stuff needed for quests
It runs out soon enough believe me. Especially if you want to do a manscorps run, those potions are NOT cheap.

Bah! Try taking off all the 0's for a poor ranger like me. I maxed out at 1k last wipe, and that was when trade was highly twinkable. Don't think I ever got over like 200p afterwards.
My cash was spent on: arrows. (My aim sucks
Sarvis
PS. For those of you loaded down with too much cash... why not donate to the Sarvis fund. You too can help this poor ranger as he struggles to find arrows, and live a normal life. Just 2p a week out of your paycheck can bring him hope. You'll even receive a personally written letter by Sarvis, as soon as he can afford a tutor to teach him how to write.

I'm starting the 'Support your rogue-boy movement'. Anytime you look in your bank account and see oppressively high sums of money staring back at you, simply pull it out and drop it on some poor sap of a rogue. They'll be squirming with delight at the prospect of actually being able to afford poisons, garrote wires, disguises, and other neat consumeables that they use. Give a hoot, feed a rogue!

Coins in bank: 5220 platinum 39415 gold 63676 silver 7 copper
The reason I have such low silver and copper is that I've practiced everything in my guild up to the max I can have it for my level (level 39 necro). Earned every penny legit, virtually all solo. Have nothing else to do with it during alpha

Geez.. I'll tell ya, some people don't have hoardes of cash that they don't know what to do with. I'm a lvl 19 cleric, and have about 75plat now, and maybe 150plat total in all coins. And the only thing I've spent money on is training.
Makes me wonder if all the mobs with good cash are in evil zones.
Anyway, I think an unique item auction is a bad idea. As mentioned, why go and quest and zone to get good eq when you could just make trade runs and horde cash.

Well, I'm not rich, but I had a faerie pick my pockets the other day. Those nasty little buggers. Getting ya drunk with whiskey, frolicking, then...there goes your gold!
