For warrior types, excluding rangers and dire raiders... (cause they have range specialist)
Would be along the same lines as circle specialization for casters.... ie: 1h slashing specialization.

So, warriors, paladins and anti-pals, or maybe just warrior... since pals and a-pals get spells too... and as noted above, ranger s and dires get range specialist.

look at you guys. you think melee damage actually matters. as long as there is area damage and mobs switching off tanks to casters like crazy, melee damage means almost jack. let's not forget that mobs bash people on entry now. clerics heal, invokers kill, tanks get mobs off the casters. if you don't believe me, watch any group with a wide selection of casters and multiple invokers. mobs will all die within the same 5-10 rounds except for the initial mob that dies b/c u brought a rogue. the round difference between that is just 3 rounds though :/

If there would be weapon specializations then i think that warriors should be worse with weapons they hadn't chosen.
Thus a warrior could choose not to specialize and be as now.
They could make soft specialization in all 1 handed weapons or all 2 handed weapons, and thus gain +1 to hit +1 dam with that and -1 to hit -1 dam with what they chose not to specialize in.
They could also make hard specialization in
1h bludgeon
2h misc etc and then the bonus and penalty should be approx double of the soft specialization.

imho, all weapon specializations will do is hose area gods. people will go 1h misc to be 'different' and then complain about all the awesome 1h slashing weapons that dominate the mud and hound area gods for 1h misc weapons. before weapon specializations are in something should be done about the current melee damage. it is just too slow. we're fighting mobs that can crush us randomly due to crit code. we can't afford to wait 20+ rounds to win with just melee damage and going all caster damage is the quickest, strongest and most efficient way to play.

just because rangers and direraiders get range specialist dont mean nothing just means they can be more proficient in either bow or crossbow...its not an actuall weapon proficiancy just means that they get a little more accurate...besides they should also be able to have a specialization between 2h and 1h weapons same with palis and antis..as for rogues they should get a proficiancy between daggers and shrotswords...

It's ok, they'll justify several new zones just putting in all the extra misc eq.
I do suggest, however, making the hitters and tanks even more specialized if you want melee damage to be better.
