Postby Daz » Tue Dec 17, 2002 7:12 am

can we pay our guildmaster the cost of scribing a spell to 'unscribe' a spell from one of our books?

As far as I know, 'white-out' doesn't exist in faerun.

If Corth really is Shevy then he's talking to himself in this topic right now! heheh

Edit: actually he would have nearly 3000 posts. instead of 2000 some.

Heres a scary thought for you..

What If I'm really Corth, Shev, AND Moritheil? That would put me at about 6700 posts! I mean, I'm probably not.. but hey.. who can know for sure, right? Image

Interesting possibility, mori kills off other players, corth kills off himself, and shev kills them both off. Just a different hat depending on how you feeling?

Corthglorishan is when corth having a day off and no one dies?

So... back to the topic at hand... Palimpsests were reused scrolls that had been scraped clean of their previous scribblings... no reason we couldn't do the same with spellbooks.

I always thought it sucked too Daz.. but when you think about it, it really does make sense. Spellbooks aren't hard to come by anyhow.

Ever go to a drive-thru ATM or a mcdonalds or some crap like that and there's brail all over the place? I mean comeon, wtf is with that! Even if they aren't driving with that cane out the window, i dont think its a good idea to do anything that might make it easier for blind people to walk where cars often drive.

I like the idea of being able to erase spells because ..

I'm sort of a neatfreak ... I like perfectly filled books ... so ..

If I had two books with 7 pages empty .. and find myself needing to scribe one 8th circle spell ... I could rearrange the spells so they are both filled perfectly instead of getting one more book ...

Newbie spellbooks maybe =^(

Sure wish I had some spiffy 250 page ones instead of carrying around 7 newbie ones in my inventory. Waaa!

Last time I checked there has always been an ERASE spell in the faerun cosmology which can remove any mundane writtings and even some magical ones. (bye bye glyph) I think that this is a cool idea, and I am ALL for it.

To play devil's advocate, even though I'd love a way to erase a spellbook's pages...

Didn't the erasure of a page in a spellbook constitute destruction of that page resulting in some kind of cataclysmic force dealing damage to all around? Of course there was a lot more to putting a spell into a spellbook than simply scribing it, too.

Gods could put in, or put in a quest for, the "loose-leaf binder". Buy pages for it and customize the length (up to some max number of pages).

OK, it ain't medieval. Maybe a special box which safely holds loose pages with spells on them? And only such pages?

Regarding those newbie spell books, perhaps there could be a Quest for an Old & Dusty Tome of Wizardry or some such. In addittion to having a ton of pages in it, it could also have some statistics that would make it
good for the casters to hold it? *Shrug* just a thought, ya know.

Dhuz, who never had a caster.
