Summertime Rerun - the Finale!

Postby Auril » Tue Aug 02, 2005 2:58 am

The RP-Quest sphere is proud to announce the repeat run of our end of campaign final battle. The original event was run on January 29th, and met with great reviews and requests for a repeat.

As promised, we will stage the repeat on Sunday, August 21st, beginning at 1 pm Eastern. Participation is only limited to those with characters of level 40 or greater, and a willingness to turn on the RP flag and abide by the basic premise of not openly interfering with the atmosphere. Prior finale participants will have the same opportunity as everyone else to join in for the rerun.

This event involves dragonriding in combat - for everybody, not just paladins, antipaladins and dire raiders. It involves weapons of great power, most of which have only ever been seen during the first run of this event. A long, epic battle of differing challenges awaits the end of the event.

There are no tangible rewards for participating, simply the experience of spending roughly four hours in a unique experience on this MUD. We ask that if you wish to attend, you mudmail the RP-Quest sphere (mwrite rpq) and state the name of the character you wish to have attend. We will base attendance mostly on a first-come first-serve basis, and we have room for up to thirty participants. If we have a severe dichotomy of goodrace to evilrace players, the racial limits will be temporarily suspended for this event only. The group cap size of 15 will still apply.

Please direct any questions to the RP-Quest sphere, or speak perhaps with some of those who attended the first event.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you.

Prior Participants were:
Teej, Targsk, Pril, Artikerus, Lorsalian, Kavik, Pidibeple, Jalahon, Tida,
Gurns, Lintral, Llandrien, Gormal, Nilan, Ruxur, Lahgen, Jimak, Sotana,
Lirela, Theshial, Duna, Lilira, Tubos, Botef, Garal, Mirlantharn, Uta,
Llaaldara, Nitania, Axater.

Please Note:

The spirits will not return, because they were customized for the players who were to attend the finale. Generic spirits will take their places, and give some minimal guidance and encouragement.

While we can attempt to distribute the weapons and dragons according to how it worked for the finale, we might need to shuffle things around to better suit those who will attend the rerun.

Will this still be run as two groups of 15 working together? Or is it being scaled down to one group?

2 Thumbs up! Was a lot of fun last time.

There will still be two groups of 15. If need be we'll lift racial restricts for the event, but it's much, much more problematic to shift matters so that size limited spells (gheal) would work for a larger group.

Also, if you are a repeat from the first run, please specify if you do NOT want the same weapon and dragon you had originally. Otherwise, we will assume you'd like a repeat. :)

revalance of Tibek in finale

Postby Tibek » Fri Aug 05, 2005 9:37 pm

So even if I don't know anything of the RP story I could still come into the finale?

I would love to but that doesn't seem right to me, I would be shooting in the dark.

If I wasn't in the last finale am I going to take the spot of a person that cant make it or is no longer a player?

Meaning I would ride that persons dragon and wield there weapon or are you guys redoing all that for new people coming in

Tibek.

The actually finale that all the storyline was based on has taken place. What RPQ is doing is rerunning the fruits of their Hours, and Hours, and Hours of labor to give other people a chance to play and do something we as players never get to do with mainstream zoning or exping like riding dragons, wielding god-forged weapons, destroying a god. Also, there were a few problems when it was initially run, so this would also give those of us who wish to be included in the second run to see what we missed. Its all in good fun.

Wouldn't it really be fun to see it set up as a zone? *wicked grin*

All of us who participated in the first run had a blast, and I'm looking forward to doing it again!!!!

There are a few things you'll need to know about the finale, that were learned during the campaign. We'll go over them briefly when we gather, because you can't win if you don't know these tiny little details... :)

The finale was a great deal of work, and our roleplayers did a great job, and we were glad to set things up for them. But even so, some of those at the first run weren't regulars, didn't know much of the campaign if anything. It went well, they enjoyed themselves for the most part, and now we have the chance to let others enjoy our efforts too. :)

Right now, we have 14 of 30 characters reserved for the event. It'd be nice if you wanted to look into what happened, but not necessary. Perhaps seeing what we did will entice others to check us out later. :)

Now, to figure out a time to figure out how to turn it into a full zone...

Perhaps the battle with the Vile One rent the dimensional fabric of the area, which means that more and more demons are coming through to Faerun via that area, and the dragons are there to keep them in check.
Kesena OOC: 'i wish my daddy bought me power tools'
Dorgh group-says 'damn, even with Cofen helping Mori, they STILL can't kill someone
Hekanut says 'I know level doesn't matter much, but most won't take seriously if a level 2 claims to be the best thing before, during, and after sliced bread.'

Rather than seeing "subpar race/class," see "challenge."

I would love to go again, to ride on Tocx'enth'orix and wield Fang of the Black Widow again... I know Lintral would also really like to be there, riding Sultstryncrorath and wielding his staff of dragonbone...

Too bad the in-laws will be here, and I'm certain they'll want to go with us on the hour's drive to NICU to see our daughter. I just don't think they'd understand us taking time to play a game when it's not convenient for them. :P

Whoever gets my sword - wield it well. :)

Greetings! For those of you who wish to attend the finale rerun, there are
a few things that were learned during the campaign which you will need to
know.

- Make sure you are on a very high condensed rate - trust us you need it.

- Identify your weapon when you receive it. While many are flagged as
!ID, several others have command word procs that are evident in the
identification.

- Do not remove the amulet you have been given to use for the duration of
the event. It has several very useful functions, one of which is to
prevent near-instant death against Auzorm'tvorl. Wear it at all times,
no matter what spam may come.

- When you have a dragon follower, ride it. Your weapon will be nodrop,
and your ability or lack thereof in mounted combat will not matter.
For much of the time you have a dragon mount, it will be required and
have dire consequences if you are not riding. Don't toggle your follow
to make your dragon stop following you, you really need it with you.

- During the final battle, you will need your granted weapon to slay Auzorm'tvorl.
He comes in several layers, each with its strengths and detriments. Talk
to others who have been there, there are some very vital do's and do not's.

- If Auzorm'tvorl is to die, in any of his incarnations, any one of the
players MUST raise their hand to indicate their willingness to lay
down their life to kill Him. The death will not be permanent in any
way, but you WILL be out of the rest of the battle against Auzorm'tvorl.
Res will not be possible until afterwards.

We still have a number of positions available. While filling them
at the very last minute is pretty difficult, contact us before Noon
EST if you feel you'd like to participate.

THANK YOU for the rerun!

Had a blast and got to see lots I missed the first time!

+++

Tida reaches out and draws Orcus, Demon Prince of the Undead towards her,her lips curved in a sensuous smile. he stands docilely as Tida wraps her arms around his neck and presses her lips against his. Tida waits expectantly for a moment, before her eyes widen in alarm and she tries to break away from the embrace and scamper back away from Orcus, Demon Prince of the Undead. Enraged by the rejection, he draws back to attack Tida!

By far the best lines from my perspective from it all:

Eilistraee places a corpse of pril around her neck.

Eilistraee has forced you to 'lay targsk'.
Your hands glow as you lay them on Targsk.
Your selfless act has it's price!

Hmm. I think the most fun was the unclaimed dragons turning on our butts.

Made for some interesting fights..

Silversaans and Thanatars and dragons.. Oh MY!

Bug

Postby Adriorn Darkcloak » Tue Aug 30, 2005 7:49 pm

There still appears to be some type of bug or error because I continue to load without Pantherclaw in my inventory. Please fix this disastrous situation as soon as possible please.

Also, the event run was incredibly fun and INCREDIBLY well done, in my opinion. Thank you for the chance to enjoy it with such a good group.
