How do I send a PM?

I tried to send a PM to a friend and the note is in my outbox but NOT in my sent box...how do I get it to send?

They send themselves. I'm not sure if there's some kind of refreshing process on the server, like on Yahoo, so messages might be queued before being batch-sent, but there's really nothing to it besides hitting the 'submit' button, as long as you've got the fields filled out.
