Shar, you've made me change my signature because it was offensive, despite it only containing quotes of other people, and then twice made responses to "cut this crap out" immediately after my posts in the last week. Meanwhile you let other offensive sigs stand and pretty much ignore the flame war Teflor continued without me in that other thread almost without comment, and completely without the personal threats levied against us when I was involved. Yet you still claim to not be singling me out...

If you can't see what Ambar has done and is doing to upset me... well, then fine. But I fail to see how pointing out <i>things she has actually done</i> is a personal attack or being defensive.

Let me try to explain this Sarvis. Again, what I had said to you was in one thread on the mud related to one specific comment and given to you as a specific response for those already in the thread who wanted to see it.

Your problem is threefold:

1) You spread it all over the forums whereever you had posted for everyone to see.

2) You take no responsibility for what you parrot like some sort of mindless monkey parrot drone beast.

3) You seem to believe that somehow, quoting something offensive isn't offensive.

Are you asking about your personal relationship with this guy, or are you asking about how much help to offer him with the sick dog?

And what does the dog have?

If the problem is that he just cannot afford to take the dog to the vet, then it shows his heart is at least in the right place and that he's trying - Vet's get really expensive really quickly - one of my coworkers dogs got hit by a car recently, and the bill came to $4,000. He didn't have that kind of money, but also wasn't interested in the alternative, the $50 it costs to put the dog down. After speaking to his parents and friends, he was able to come up with the money, fortunately, mostly from his mom. And from forgoing a months payment on his mortgage. Now, I'm not saying that this is a healthy thing to do, but, just something to think about. People generally understand the emotional connection between dog and owner, and are willing to help out if they can...

I live in a town with a Vet School. They as a public service often take animals in at a very reduced cost or free. If I picked up a stray dog that was sick, they would take it no charge. They take every injured wild animaal at no charge. If I took my dog in and told them I had limited funds they would work with me to spread out payments, or talk to teachers to get a reduction.

No most towns dont have a school I know. The point is, our school is one of the top in the nation and it churns out Vets that were taught this philanthropy from day one. It never hurts to call a few vets and ask. My UPS man (who often walks through back yards and place most ppl dont go) has hauled many sick, or abandoned dogs to private vets at no charge when he took the time to explain the situation.

Its hard to ask, but you know that dog cant ask for itself. Sometimes they need someone to be thier voice.

Grun's right.. we've got a few vets in my town, I don't know what the policy is for most of them.. but I've actually ran into the problem of havin one of my cats get sick and not bein able to pay for it at the time..They helped me work out a payment plan so that the cat got taken care of as she needed, instead of me havin to save up and then get her taken care of... I would definately call around to different vets and see what you can do.. I know around here if all the animal needs are shots they don't charge for an office visit, just the price for the shots.. *shrug* something to think about ;)

I'd say, as far as taking them in for an exam to get an estimate on how much it's going to cost. Any more then that jen, and you're really getting involved with it.


Now for some playful humor.

Ways to fix a broke pit bull you can't afford:

Option A- Drive em to the local SPCA.

Option B- Buy a shovel.

Option C- (A or B) + buy a cat and attach a fake dog nose to the front with with a rubber band, and a dog barking collar.

Option D- (A or B) + Buy a Plush toy stuffed pit bull.

Option E- Drive em to a Taxidermist.

Option F- Start a "Save 'Babyeater' the friendly Pit Bull" donation drive campaign and hand out flyers. (Preferably if you own the dog)

Option G- Hot glue rubber dog ears and nose to a newly shaved Sarvis and implant fake dog tail in rear end (made from #9 buttplug, 18 inch metal rod, and 5 pounds of used dog hair). Replace pit bull with new Pit Bull Mutiod Mudder Clone. (Please remember to insert gag in mouth before attempting swap).

How involved are you with them already? is this a boyfriend? a guy you like? or what? If it's a longterm bf then i'd say get involved if it's some random guy on the street then go check if the dog has rabies shrug you're kinda asking for an opinion w/o giving us too much info so it's hard to give ya one.

As far as the dog is concerened i think others have covered that already call around see what you can do (assuming you want to get involved with the guy.)

this guy works for me ... i dont like him as a friend, im not close to him .. THAT is why i posted a response in a friggin PET thread ... not a "flame bait" thread ...

the guy had TWO pit bulls originally and arranged for a girl who works for me to pick up one of the dogs .. she does and finds a horrendously sick animal ...

she takes it to petsmart and they try to accuse her of animal abuse ... she quicky informs them that it wasnt her dog ...

the vet bill came to $600 ... he has two kinda of worms, and some other stuff wrong with him .. all curable stuff ..

now she couldnt afford to pay the bill, so the vet agreed to keep the animal, they'd medicate it and find it a good home

the moral dillema came when the girl wanted to call animal control on the original owner and i told her not to

so .. it wasnt even ME involved! she works for me too and called me asking for advice ...

turns out he IS getting the dog treated ... there is a vet on a nearby Army base that will do it for lots cheaper .. (maybe a payment plan?? not too sure)

There was something like that on 20/20 or something a couple weeks ago. They had cameras set up to catch people littering on highways, and they caught one guy tossing a bag full of puppies into a huge pile of garbage on the side of the road. :(

I've done it around here.. but they hold them for 10 days before allowing anyone to adopt them, or see them to watch for rabies.. but if you sign a paper saying that you don't think they have it they put them up for adoption sooner.. I know around here the shelter only keeps them about a month then they umm..dispose of them :(

Yeah it does suck when people toss bags of puppies or kittens or whatever on the side of the road since (and i'm not sure about this correct me if i'm wrong) animal shelters will take them in for free.

not entirely true unfortunaly, most shelters do ask a fee for taking unwanted pets. At least they do here in canada

a very good question to ask is if the animal is going to be able to function pain free after the procedures.

in many cases the damage is so great the poor creature finds winters to be total agony.

my own cat has a tumor on his back.. hes 16... they recommend we leave it unless it seriously hampers him.
