Your fav. easy-to-make snacks

Postby muma » Thu Apr 07, 2005 11:55 pm

OK, now i don't know if other ppl do this or not, but i love to put ground cayenne pepper on my tuna sandwiches. it tastes sooooooo good. try it.

also i know a lot of ppl probably make this. but scrambled eggs on a bagel, maybe w/cheese. like an egg mcmuffin but better.

i'm not much of a cook, especially cause cooking is time consuming. anyway, i wonder what some of your favourite snacks are that you like?

Peanut butter and jelly.

Except when you have enough peanut butter but not enough jelly(ooh that sucks..)

Then its peanut butter and butter (or margirine).

Yum.

Toast with peanut butter is pretty good, though I haven't eaten any in a while.

Did your heart do something to piss you off? I will agree though; those fried egg sandwiches are awesome.

My favorite quick snack is peanut butter sandwich or toast. Even quicker, tuna (straight from the can) with wheat thins and sliced mild colby cheese.

My own recipe for roll-up sandwiches...

Some kind of flatbread (Wal-Mart has a really good tomato basil that I use for this). Spread cream cheese on the flatbread, thickness is up to taste. Use shaved peppered turkey, black olives, banana peppers, roasted red bell peppers and tomatoes (I use a homemade sweet Italian based tomato chutney with basil, oregano, lime and garlic). Roll the ingredients into the flatbread and slice the sandwich into approx 1" slices.

Pork Crackling! Mmmmm!

Well ok, I'm on Atkins so it's about the only kind of snack I can handle. But then I've lost 46lbs so far, and I'm happy :)

6 weeks. Impressed? :) Still have another 18lbs to lose, but I'm losing at a slower rate now (different stage of the diet). Basically I got sick of not being able to keep up with the toddler and decided I need to lose weight :)

I lost 65 doing Atkins after I found out I was diabetic (75 lb wt gain in one year). I need to get back on it, but if I never have to look at most deli meats again I won't be too disappointed... besides, they're not very good for you. Grats on the weightloss.

Oh... and one of my most favorite weird snacks in the entire world is rye bread spread with Braum's french onion dip. Mmmmmmmmm.

I got a new, strange craving out of nowhere the other day, and it took me hours to figure out what it was and how to get it.

Remember back when pudding was cooked on the stovetop, and it'd be too hot to eat right away, so you could add milk to it, to cool it down some? I copied the taste. Empty a pudding cup into a big mug, add milk and stir it well, then microwave. I like butterscotch and vanilla, haven't tried chocolate yet.

Here is my egg and apple sandwich:

Boil 2x eggs, and peeled
Peel 1x Red Roman(?) apple
Mayo (2big spoonful)
Toasted bread (s)

-Place eggs, apple, and mayo in food process/ or finely chop and lightly blend.
-Apply on toasted bread (s).
-Cut bread (s) diagonally.

Simple and filling. Makes about 2~3x sandwiches. :o

My favorites:

1) venison summer sausage slices and pepperjack cheese slices on a Kebler Club cracker

2) strawberry-rhubarb jam thickly applied to wheat bread with a slice of american cheese or velveeta and some dill pickle relish applied moderately

3) beer (nothing fills you up like a half and half or black and tan)

4) instant pistachio pudding

5) the crushed hopes and painful memories of small children with a side of shattered dreams

I don't know if anyone else has tried this, but it is one of my favorites.

4 slices of hickory smoked bacon + 2 slices of texas toast + black raspberry jam = yummy 5 minute snack.

Another one of my quick favorites is this:

Bring some chicken flavour Raman noodle soup to boil.
Slowly pour in a beaten egg (I add 2) while stirring.
High in both carbs and protien, yum.

Finally for my favorite treat... Girls...

fresh basil tomato onion and motzerella salad:

fresh basil, dont even have to chop it up
red onion, sliced into rings
fresh motzerella cheese cubed or balled mouth sized
fresh tomatos quartered

pour olive oil over the top, to taste
pour balsamic vinegar (sparsely unless you like to pucker)
salt/pepper (black and red)

serve cold OR hot!

this dish rocks in the summer when served cold. If you serve hot, it will be all melted and gooshy. its great for winter :)

I have just one thing to say.

Beer.

After prodigious quantities, toasted ham and cheese sandwiches.

Followed by more beer.
