screwd

Postby sok » Fri Nov 25, 2005 5:02 pm

i kinda put my laptop down too hard on a hard wooden board. i did not, repeat did not drop it. anyways, the screen is now black, but at a certain angle and good lighting, i can kinda see some of the icon on the desktop. anyways, am i screwed or this repairable? dont want to spend cash fixing it, if it's unrepairable.

Screwed IF the lcd itself was damaged. - they're still pretty darn expensive.

However the connector that drives the LCD and backlight can sometimes dislodge fairly easily.
Depending on the make, it's pretty easy to pop the top and check the connector.

Yeah if you can still see some icons and stuff, then the LCD module itself is probably still alright. Its probably something stupid like the connector for the backlight or inverter got knocked loose.

It's probably the flux capacitor. Best Buy had them on sale for cheap a couple days ago, dunno if they still are. Good luck!

You might still be able to make it, but you'll have to drive 88mph and get at least five gigawatts of electricity to make sure the repair is sealed properly.

It's gigawatts. :P The problem is, back before the billions prefix was widely used, it was listed in the dictionary with the "j" sound for the first g, and the "g" sound as an alternative pronounciation.

It covers it here: http://www.deloreanmotorcar.com/ec/jigawatts.htm
