When my pc has just started up, launching computer games will cause it to freeze. However, if it has been running about 30 min or so and then I try to lauch the games, the computer will not freeze. So the pc must be warmed up or it can crash easily. Any idea which hardware component could be to blame?

Unfortunately that could be almost anything...
The more likely causes are a cold solder joint on the motherboard or another component (which are very difficult to find without a solder rework station). Also an iffy connector could do that. Easiest thing to do is reseat all of your expansion cards and unplug/reconnect cables for your drives at both ends.
Check the capacitors for the CPU power regulator on your motherboard to make sure you don't have any that are leaking or expanded/bulging.

Depending on the games, I'd have to say video card.
Teflor does. Teflor does not.
