Resucitation techniques will improve over time as researchers gain more insight into the area. That being said, current methods, while imperfect, certainly are preferable to letting patients die while we try to perfect a better technique.

Nearly half of all doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class, not that it has anything to do with the article presented, but it goes towards the title.

Agree. It's hard to discover how people die, without causing death. That is why this area of research is slow-going. I hope we can improve our survival rates for sudden cardiac death in the future.

Postby muma » Tue May 08, 2007 3:12 pm

i would like to say, there are preventative techniques to getting heart disease. that is being super healthy. but most americans aren't unfortunately. and they eat way too much meat.

Honestly, I don't think meat is our problem. Our problem is all the processing food goes through, and additives like high fructose corn syrup. You are probably thinking fast food when you say meat, but if they just used actual beef instead of whatever processed crap they do use we'd probably be a lot healthier.

Just remember your libertarianism, Corth. Companies sell us these pesudo-meats for profit, so they must be good. ;)

What Sarvis and Corth said. Man evolved eating meat and made it this far. It wasn't a diet of steroids, pesticides, laboratory-created food substitute and plastic-enclosed microwaveables that popped out the opposeable thumb.

Hey, if people want to buy that crap, god bless them. Personally, I try and limit the amount of processed foods in my diet.

Meat comprises too much of the average American's diet. But what the hell doesn't comprise too much of the average American's diet?

What don't we eat too much of?

true

Postby muma » Thu May 10, 2007 12:16 am

ok you guys are right. i actually did mean more so the unhealthy meat from sickly animals who are obese, have cancer and are loaded with antibiotics. Factory farms sicken me. anyway, i think lifestyle probably has to do a lot with it. not exercising enough, and not eating enough vegetables.

hunter-gatherers were constantly doing physical activites. out of necessity

so ok, thanks for the correction heh

also agree on the pesticides and preservatives, etc. (that they're bad)
