My shop is approx. 1/4 mile from the courthouse/church were this took place. The churches caretaker and the officer killed both used to frequent my shop when they needed things and I knew them both.

Living in such a small college town I often take for granted the fact that violent crime usually only comes in the form of drunken college brawls. Lately it seems like things are rapidly changing what with two unusual shootings in the last year. Its definitely going to be a strange week around here. This was the first police officer death in the line of duty in Moscow PD's history, and will certainly have a lasting effect.

From the conversation I had with a retired church worker it looks like this was a love triangle involving a dispatcher, the sniper and his wife but I doubt anything solid will be released for awhile.
