Quaffing after a crash

Postby Thrand » Sun Sep 11, 2005 1:57 am

I would like to propose that afer a crash one should be able to quaff a full
days worth of potions again.

And I would like you all to say this is a great idea, I am not really
interested in hearing how sucky the idea is or that maybe it has been asked befor or some such 'blame game'. I think we are working hard and there is much progress and the future is bright so we all need to stick together
in this time of need and allow me to quaff after a crash thank you.

Don't take this as me saying it ain't gonna happen, but this is my thoughts on it:
Even after a crash/reboot, you are the same person and your blood to potion ratio is still exactly the same as before. The crash/reboot didn't clear that up magically or anything.
Just my thoughts on it.

Yeah, but the zone you were just in is not as done as it was before the crash.
Teflor does. Teflor does not.

Also when there is a crash/reboot isn't there a time burp? So technically it isn't the same mud day and so your blood would have cleared.

It sure cleared everything else up though.

Pets are gone. I'm still the same lich who just raised Juiblex, so technically I have him until the embalms run out.
Shammy/(a)pally summons are nerfed They just summoned. Technically the pets should still be with them.
Proc item charges are (often) reset back to zero. On items that must be worn to charge, and lose when removed, technically I didn't remove it, so it should still be at the same charge level.
!rent quest items are gone. I didn't rent. So technically I still have them.
Progress on killing mob/zones is gone. ... well, thats the main reason all of the other stuff is such a pain, isn't it?...
...

</sarcasm>

I'm well aware, crashes are just a fact of life. Rationalizing away a reasonable request with game balance logic has no weight with me, as crashes are outside of "reality."

Sticking with this example, the mob you would be solo'g that was nasty wounds or phurt, whatever, would be fully healed, and you stand there quaffless for x amount of time, facing a fresh enemy.

What I ment was, some things (ok, most things) resetting when the game crashes/reboots can't be helped and there isn't a whole lot that can be done to set things back exactly as they were (far as I know, I don't do code).
Some things, like the potion quaffing, can, and it likely hasn't been changed for that reason.
With the changing of shaman totem and paladin mounts resetting, perhaps this will get changed as well. I was just stating my thoughts on why it hasn't been changed.
