I'd _REALLY_ like the frequency of multi days to increase! Once a month would rock. This morning there were 22 ppl on, 6 of which were full time AFK'ers.

With the pbase as it is, every day should be multiplay day. If only to make it possible for newbies to actually level.
Having said all that, the situation has been handled, so this thread is pretty much at an end. -Kossuth

I voted the week before X-mas for a couple of reasons.

1) The week during, a lot of people are traveling to visit loved ones.

2) The week after a lot of people are still on travel until after the 2nd or 3rd, then its scramble to get back to work and kids back in school.

3) Not sure I'll be able to after Xmas and before New Years... and I missed the last one. :-(

The week 31dec-6jan suits me best.

I second the ideas of:

1) having 2 multiplay events during Dec & Jan, and

2) holding multiplay events more often

Lookin forward to it!

Altho I know Shev's prolly pounding his head workin on 2.0, to log on now with 20 some people on, playing the game is not at all special atm. :( It's nothing but frustrating since I like 1-2 hour zoning and the 1/4 population that are perm connected are also perm-afk.

Multi totally adds a new way of figuring out how to do stuff, creates excitement, etc. Fun fun! I don't really want multi to be 'special' as much as I want it to give me something to look forward to until the Shevster 'n Co. release 2.0!

It would seem to me that in the week between Christmas and New Years, when the pbase may be down a bit with people travelling, would make a lot of sense. If it's going to be harder to get a group, then it's a better time to allow it.

I like MULTI, but I think it's true that if it happens to often, both the novelty will wear off and it might encourage people to not play except on the days they can plvl themselves. That having been said, I don't think that twice during the holidays would be too much. It actually sounds like there's a good bit of reason to have two.

Just my thoughts on it...

Cheers.

Each person should get to decide thier own personal multi day each month and petition for approval before doing so. If an imm is present to note the request to do so, then it should be noted on the god multi tracker board or whatever and granted for time requested, even immediately following.

Set times are better than nothing, but I really don't MUD by schedule. I think a lot of people with busy lives are this way too. This would be a solution for everyone to enjoy it. Lets say that 4 people really wanted to try to schedule thier own personal multi zone for a certain day. Or lets say you or for some freak reason your group gets in a jam and needs some CR help. Someone in the group could then use thier multi day (assuming they didn't use it already that month) to assist the group and lessen a sometimes horrible and much debated time sink issue of the game. If the CR aspect of the idea is not liked, it could be regulated by a time frame for requesting the said multi day.

I am not at all opposed to the idea of allowing multi at all times (especially if it was a set number of characters such as 2 or 3), but I know the staff is very opposed to this idea, as are a few players. I think this would be a nice comprimise of regulating multi, so that every single person could enjoy it. Random regulated multi would stimulate a more active pbase, revive regular zoning, and hold us over on the long wait for 2.0. Not to mention change things in a most interesting way for everyone on any given day (even if the number of characters able to be used was limited).

Anyhow, just putting the idea out there (quite possibly in the wrong forum - but the topic inspired this idea). You get the general concept idea of RRM (Random Regulated Multi). The main reason for this idea, is that I'm still bummed I missed the last couple multi days I guess (and that I would not have changed any aspect of my RL plans to have had been there for that).

Just my 2 c.

Can't wait for multi! I stopped really leading, since I hate keeping 10 people around waiting for those extra 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 people, but down to race through some zones on this day for those interested!

But I think the downfall of multi is that most people get ready just to massively xp their alts.

I think multi should happen more often too, but only for zoning purposes. If multi was to happen and people just use them for xp alt day, and zoning doesn't get done much on regular days, then that defeats the point of multi, since you can usually xp when you can't zone anyways.

So perhaps if imms have a change of heart, we can implement multi w/restriction, such as:

- you can only have 2 (or whatever #) chars at most on (so it doesn't get out of control)
- you can only bring your chars to red listed zones (so not just used to xp)
- group leaders using multi group have to do a public LFG and fill out slots w/non-multi chars first to zone (so it's not used for straight twinking)
- leaders would still abide by 1 bid/player (so it's still "fair" to all)

Like this it's just as if we had more people playing on the MUD.

well i smited myself a couple of times too, Did a bunch-o-resses for others. It was fun, I played hard and burned out after a while, got 2 more characters to zoning level, like I still won't have to play cleric all the time anyway. I really think it helps increase your skills when you go back to playing one person.

Multi was great fun. I got a few more alts some exp and I conducted a feasibility study to see if I could actually zone by myself.

So I equipped 10 alts (Warrior, Anti, Cleric, Bard, Necro, Rogue, Ranger, Enchanter, Elementalist, Illusionist - average level 47.4) with semi-respectable kits and trigger sets and trekked off to TTF. After about 90 mins and about 5 deaths (thanks to a couple psi mobs and a wraith priest), I made it to the first fight for EQ. Doomed to spank to 4 casting mobs (3 of which were wraiths), I recruited the help of 2 guildies who each brought a few alts to stretch the group to 15. We failed twice to win the fight for the flower ring and then I had to leave.

Normally, after 2 hours, a group of 15 should have been able to easily complete the "TTF-3". We walked away with zero.

Conclusion: While multiplaying makes exp easier and more fun, it doesn't necessarily translate to zoning. In fact, judging by my experience, more mistakes happen while multiplaying in a zone which makes the group more prone to spanking.

Thanks for the fun Shar, I enjoyed it! A few people toyed with zoning as many chars and were pretty succesful. Most of us did exp though since its just so ridiculously efficient.
