Dear guy who picked up Krul's bag

Postby Dalar » Sun Dec 06, 2009 7:45 am

Do the right thing and give it back and people will probably help you get gear. Immortals can't legally say anything about who has it but that doesn't stop them from giving out the name on IM and people spreading out information. This will get you blacklisted, and then you will want to start a new character. When that happens, please do it from another IP address so I don't have to listen to the stupid "hey i heard that new guy was xxxx".

Might also look into changing rule to accommodate such occasions. The guy who took the bag probably doesn't even read BBS.

This guy is funny thinking he can get away from this. Nobody is ever going to consent him or help him more and more as the days go by. And we all know how 2 days IRL time is like a week in MUD brain time.

8. Do not pick up fumbled weapons or any equipment laying on the ground
unless you are SURE that it doesn't belong to anyone or that it is
abandoned. If a player intentionally leaves something lying in a room, then
the player leaving it has no claim to it.

SPECIAL NOTE: anyone found hiding invis or hidden in a room and stealing
fumbled weapons will be punished.

Krul didn't abandon it. Abandoning it would mean he would not want to claim it. He is still claiming it. Cageable offense imo if you know someone is claiming gear you picked up and are not giving it back.

Me too. I hate blacklisting people.

Sweet, glad to hear it was returned. Really odd that Immortals can't just outright say on the mud, "charnamex" picked it up, talk to them directly. I felt hysterical after inadvertently dropping 1 piece of gear, I can only imagine having to lose your whole ball o' wax.

We don't tell the player that lost is who has it because that could lead to them being harassed. We can and often do let the person who found the item(s) know who they belong to in case they were looking for the owner. It is ultimately up to the person that found them as to whether they give the item(s) back.

So even though it is in the rules it is still up to the person who picked it up? That is very odd, may as well nix that rule then.

Well, we could just say pay attention to wtf you're doing and you wouldn't have to worry about anything.
That rule I believe was put in place to keep people from grabbing gear left on the ground after a ress. I coul be wrong though.

It seems to me, if a player has logged off the mud, then the item is abandoned. If there had been a crash, we wouldnt be having any discussion about reimbursement would we?

The idea that you have a right to things that you leave on the ground, AND leave the room (much less the mud) is not the intent of that rule. That rule is mainly to protect people who fumble weapons.

There is also plenty of ways to NOT ever have your gear on the ground while you ress. You could hand it to someone... or you can store it.... If you take a simple precaution with your gear, you wont lose it. If you want to do things the lazy way, well you can get gear off the ground, sure, but its YOUR choice and your risk. You make a mistake, and sometimes you pay a price.

We wouldnt be having this discussion if someones bag burned due to dragon breath when they took off their pff item to wear wings (For example). Seems like natural consequences to me.

Now sometimes, just sometimes someone might find your lost gear and even be nice enough to return it. But hey, why wait for the person who found the bag to log on before people start leveling threats.
