Spell focus

Postby Kindi » Fri Aug 27, 2010 2:40 pm

can a coder plz take a look at spell focus and see if it has an effect on spells? lots of ppl are reporting that it doesn't change AC on barks, amount of heals, damage, etc, which would make it utterly useless. at one point shev talked about 'turning it back on' - maybe it's turned off right now?

my experience with it, its basicly worthless at least in its current form.

my druid with 21 sf nature barks (which are variable) dont really increae casted 100 barks with sf and 100 barks without sf... the average with sf was up by 1 vs average without it.. , with 21% increase in sf you would think it would be higher then that.

Also i put some spellfocus healing on druid ( i know that druid doesnt specialize in healing) and my heals still do 91, with 5 sf healing. All classes should be affected by spell focus in my opinion. shamans should get higher gheals with spellfocus healing even tho they specialize in spirit.

With the ammount of sf in game now even with 20-30 sf i dont notice any diffrence. I do realize that if you have spellfocus 20 and your spells hit for 100 damage and now your doing 120 damage its really hard to notice. With the small ammount of sf on item 2-5 sf per item really should be more noticable if you wear multiple items. Especialy with new items comming into game that are being statted with SF and enchantments, if SF is worthless it gives no desire for these new items.

Just my 2cents

Sure, I'll take a look at it. For reference, it was turned back on over a year ago so if it's not functioning now it's a bug of some sort. It should increase the effectiveness of spells regardless of your class, but it only works on the spells with the same type as the focus of course.

so in theory a druid with 5 sf heal should do more then 91 hp heal, same as a druid with 0 sf healing. Healing should be about 95 hp heal depending on how game rounds it.

5% x91 hp heal = 4hp heal increase.

a druid with 21 sf nature should be casting alot higher barkskins then a druid with 0 sf nature. Spell varies in range like vits for clerics.. but if i casted 100 barks with sf nature and 100 without, average should be considerably higher with spellfocus then without.

my druid for sure is averaging 1 ac diffrence (i tested this again after my first post and without spellfocus i had 1ac higher average then with 21 sf nature) and my heals do 91 hp without sf healing and 91 hp with 5 spellfocus healing

appreciate you looking into this shev maybe if this can get fixed the stuff comming in with sf will be worth more.

Total vit with 19% sf is 208 hp vit.

overal gain if 17hps on vit with 19% sf

if my base is 191 vit, x19% increase i should get around a 36-37hp bonus on my vit, instead of 17hp bonus.

With what you give up for wearing SF this really needs to be turned up to even be remotely noticable.

Hope this helps
