new idea... and guess what non ranger related

i think we should be able to see howmuch damage we are doing... i think it would be cool to see what my damage averages to other melee combat class/races. call the comant toggle damage

have the game count up the damage from the weapons than add the dam from hit/dam to it...

bob slashed randommobhard (12)
bob slashes a randommob (3)

ect ect ect... so go ahead take a look prolly wont go through but it would be cool
i dont know what your problem is, but i bet its hard to pronounce

I miss the days of not seeing stats untill 20th,
armor class descriptions below 20th level
no hit dam numbers at low levels
having to check exp at your guildmaster
not being able to mem or pray whall hungry
.
.
.
and you want numbers for the damage you do?
but then you could EASLY determin mob hp ect....
and remove all mystery thats left in combat.

It will be fixed in Toril 2.0.

I'm with Duard, I love the mystery. I like finding things out through experience and play; not to mention love completely fabricated legends about what things do and do not, adds such good flavour to the game. If I wanted to do a sum to see if I played best I'd get a math text from the library instead, boring! Mind you, I still love trying to figure things out for myself aswell, like what spell does this versus what does that. I loved and was obsessed with the GC command, which is what you are asking for, but man it was a 'game' ruiner for sure.

On the side note, Brian, that is the best image I have seen in a LONG LONG LONG time. I'm going to make it into a stamp to use on student's assignments. Simple perfection.

Yes... I think its highly appropriate for hitters to see how pathetic their damage output is. :)

Maybe have mobs in the arena or some other test area that will give this data? This way players can see what kind of damage they're doing, but not against all the different types of mobs. Maybe just have a human npc that has 0 resistances, and 0 damage mitigation.

This would allow players to get an idea of their damage, but still preserve the mystery in mob HPs.

This was kinda touched on in a different thread and the "winning" suggestion ( i think was ragorns) is to add another descriptor on hits.

right now we have:

You barely pierece a frost giant (95% of the time since barely is based on % of damage vs mob hps)
You land a mighty pierce on a frost giant (when the mob is mostly dead)

what was suggested is:

You barely pierce a frost giant doing moderate damage.
You barely pierce a frost giant doing critical damage.
You barely pierce a frost giant doing little damage.

Here the barely piercing reflects the overall mob condition like normal, but the doing moderate/critical/little damage reflects how hard each particular blow was. In this way, players could see who is doing more damage instead of mentally calculating how much damroll each player has.
