Command length

Wondering if people would support an increase in command size limit. Currently it is about 320 characters. I would like to see it right around 500 myself. I realize this could present problems w/ spam etc. but I don't see it being too much of an issue.

Stop spanking groups/self so you need to drag 10 million corpses, Doug.

zMUD command string length stops at 256 characters. Unless you can convince Zugg to extend it, this won't ever work.

He won't ever do it in zMUD, but since he's actively working on cMUD right now, its a good possibility that he might do it for that.

Yeah, which won't be around for another 2 years with the way he works. Isn't it supposed to be for 64 bit OS's anyway?

This is wrong. (tested with 7.21)

notice in above example how the local echo shows all my digits to the a, whereas the mud only says the first chars.

Edit:added some spaces to display nice on BBS

Local echo will show anything you put into it, including multiple lines.

Where's the rest of the log where it was parsed? It would've attempted to split that command up, had it been the mud limiting the characters.

Granted, I could be indeed wrong. I haven't kept up on the zMUD update details in quite some time, so this issue could've been addressed when Zugg implemented multiple line commands without the use of a separator.

However, that doesn't give you the right to call me a noob Doug. You could've tested this yourself instead of sitting there silent, assuming I was right. I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. :P

Jake...did they give you a respite from your poopdeck-mopping? Or did you find time to post in the middle of ironing your bell bottoms? :P

*loving pat on the head* It's ok, Ryan. I hear WalMart is having a sale on Gold Bond, maybe you can put some on that wounded butthole. Have Maxler pick you some up, I think he gets a special discount there.

? I thought maxler only had a special applicator!

A) I didn't log anything.
B) I did test it before I even started this thread.
C) Noob.

I was referring to Diso's log, Doug.

The addition of the multiple line command bar addressed the issue of the old character limit, I'm guessing.

Jake, if I needed some Gold Bond, I'd just borrow yours, since you're the resident expert on the subject. Or are you empty again since you've been out at sea?

I think Galzar is more familiar with Wal-Mart than Maxler is, BTW.

The log where it is "parsed" is included in the original log.

I have a quot, then a space. 400 digits and a "a". (403 chars)
The space between every 50 digits is an edit I did so it displays nice on bbs.

First in the log is the local echo. I agree that even if zMud had a 256 limit then the local echo could show all digits.

After the local echo is the line:
You say 'blah blah'

This line is the "parsed" sting. Here it shows that 319 chars make it to the mud. (Most likely a mud limit back from the 25x80 days).

Well, less hijacking of thread. I don't see any harm if the limit is increased, honestly I don't care because I have never reached the limit before.

It would specifically come in handy for MXP stuff for those of us that use it. Most notably it would possibly make Golem Forge eq possible to display in ansi in a database query etc.

Anything that supports or augments Golem Forge ansi I'm against. Its worth writing #sub triggers to make your own ansi for that blindingly terrible crap.

Chiara's Mud Client, Zugg's name for ZmudXP, which is his latest project in the line. CMUD is built for XP whereas Zmud was built for win95 compatibility which has limited it severely.

As for those who are against it, reasons? No one has listed anything except Jake, and I'm fairly certain that was a joke.
