when you die, 9/10 you land in your guild room in a town with an inn (storage ahoy) .. least *I* do ..... make/hold torch there?? there are also rooms out there that are LIT ... mages who dont have backup sets have to scribe new spells or wait for ress .. no brainer to have backups in storage .. no brainer to have a lit item or two in storage :) Anyone remember CR kits?

please this isnt tough :P MOST CR's are ridiculously easy these days :)

sorry if i seen cynical on this topic, some of his ideas i like.. but this idea just doesnt appeal to me (my personal opinion, you can have your own :P)

Edit: dead mages cant cast it either until they have books from which to mem it .. NOR can they minor c for that matter .. but the bard could ?

silly ranger

The reason I'd posted this was neither for making a torch or CR in intent. It was someone asking for mage flame. Since bard is mage/rogue hybrid, I don't see a problem considering it's a basic mage class spell.

Hrmm... just a wild guess, but maybe it wasn't given to bards because it's 'mage flame' and not 'bard flame.'

Again... just goin' out on a limb there with that one.

cantrips are cantrips - or we could point out the more than obvious that bards are half-assed mages?

Of course we're half-assed mages...

We're bards.. and the orig bards in 2nd edition were Jacks (or Jills) of all trades, master of none.

Frankly Mage Flame would just be a wasted spell imo.

I'd rather get to MC basic instruments. Would be handy in places like SPOB.

But then I say... save it to come in with 2.0 and don't worry about fixing what's in right now.

I'd asked for instruments a long time ago but no god replied. Seems so basic to have a 0 quality one at least. Not like people use minor create for those robes, daggers, or spears!

Well Thil.. no clue but it might be something that's being taken into account for 2.0 already. I'm just NOT up for whining about anything else that will require coding unless its a game-breaking issue.

Birile... :-* *grin* ;-)

edit: Yeah yeah.. too much driving in 4 days.. forgot a word, sheesh.

Didn't want to put words in your mouth! *hums softly* I loves my 3.5 type bards.. but I loves them more multi-classed with a ranger...

That'd be more along the lines of disarm not working on offhand weapon, or how lich gives off heat, etc? Hell, those were on gormal's thread and nobody replied. But yeah, will be nice to see bards being their own.

*giggles at Sarell*

Seriously, I think anything noted at this point we should just watch to see if its changed in 2.0 instead of harping on it over and over or bumping it to see if the topic will get some god lovin' or not. Unless of course its gonna be a problem that like.. crashes the mud.

BTW... I never have problems with stabbies catching me in the back with off-hand if I steal their prime. Though they DO still flee!

Guess I'm just lucky, or the mobs I fight are dumber than others.

I heard the spell was really going to be Flaming Bard.

The quest version is Greater Flamboyancy.
