family values tax?

Postby kiryan » Wed Mar 10, 2010 5:02 pm

Another ridiculous intrusion into our personal lives. Cigarette and alcohol taxes to control your "vices". Soda taxes and recent recommendations for a pizza tax. Now a "family values" tax on movies.

S T O P this madness. Government needs to stay out of compelling us into action that is for and of a personal nature. Whether its a soda tax to curb your caloric intake or financial support to reward manufactures of family value programming. Sure, it may have broader implications on society, but we've moved from individual focus to a collectivist focus. Its time to get back to what made America great; our individualism and freedom.

But for Florida’s Republican leaders, that is apparently not enough. A bill that aims to expand the state’s film incentive program — an effort to attract jobs, which is likely to pass — would add language limiting a proposed 5 percent tax credit to productions that do not exhibit or imply “nontraditional family values.”
