Re: iPad
Too expensive, and I don't have any niche for it. I've got 6 computers / 4 screens within arm's length of me while at home, and when I travel I bring my MacBook everywhere.
I'm waiting for the eReader market to mature and drop the DRM and price of e-books before I get something for that purpose. The patience of the lich...

That was pretty much my stance too...until about 9am this morning when I realized that I wanted one anyways. :)

Think I'm going to get the 64gb w/3G later this month when its released. The Netflix and ABC apps look really pro.
Re: iPad
Yep they're both really nice. The Marvel comics app is pretty slick too.

Too limited in scope to work as my go-to portable computer, too expensive to be a toy.

Re: iPad
I'm thinking about buying one of the 3g ones for my homeschooler. He has periods of time where he just sits around and waits (reads a book currently), would be nice if he had the Internet at his fingertips when I'm late or on his way to school ect (I have him enrolled in two periods of band at the middle school).

Re: iPad
In my opinion the purchase of Apple products supports the notion that closed architecture, corporate controlled media devices that do not allow user control and entangles developers, 3rd party application providers, and the very users themselves as pawns in a game to control the industry can be a successful and profitable endeavor.
Apple says what apps you can have. Apple doesn't allow you to use Adobe flash. Apple says what kind of hardware you have to buy.
Apple says, you do. It just works - for Apple.

Or you could buy something else. That doesn't work as well, and isn't as easy to use. I thought free market good?

The only way your post would have any validity or anything to do with what I was saying is if I was suggesting that government should step in or laws be made.

*edited previous post, can't remember if Todrael deserves the bluntness I've been using on others.
