Anyone bought a plasma TV recently?

Please post your recent experience here. I bought a Pioneer 720p 50" about 2 years ago and have been very pleased with it. I think it was a 5040HD model which they don't make anymore. Anyway, if you have a recommendation, I'm all ears and thanks in advance for taking the time to post.

We bought a Panasonic G15 last September, and have been very happy with it. Viewing angles are great, sound is decent (not great, but really what flat panel tv has great sound?), easy to configure. Haven't played with the internet options on it yet, but hopefully will be able to in a couple weeks when we return to the land of real internets. :) There were some rumors of issues with the G10 versions that were released in 2009 - the G15 is basically the same tv, but we haven't seen any of the reported issues with the blacks going bad though, so don't know if that's more rumor than truth, or if we got lucky. Only real complaint is the lack of a wireless capability for the internet, but meh, whatever.

Why would you go plasma when there is LED now? It is my understanding that LED is capable of a much better contrast ratio. They are lighter and thinner, which gives you better options for mounting.

Well, it's kind of a trade off. Quality LEDs are still more expensive (in general) than quality plasmas. Plasma usually has better viewing angles than LED, while as you said, LED is usually lighter and thinner, though when you're talking about a difference of about an inch nowdays, meh. Contrast ratios are about the same from what I've seen. What it boils down to through is find 3-4 TVs of whatever type that you would want, find the best deal, and get it. *shrug*
