Oh crap. The first 48 hours after a murder are the most important. Now this will slip away into the Coldcase Files.

1 - Yep, holy respawns. The respawn engine is being tweaked as I type this, and I'm hoping to have the adjustments in next boot. That being said, as I told the zone group last night let me know when you want to make a second attempt on it so that I can be around to manually make things more feasible.

2 - Noticed that the liches were missing a certain...something. Enjoy it while it lasts.

3 - Other minor tweaks in the works.

4 - Cleric damage rules.

Adjustments to Headquarters of the Twisted Rune are in. I'll be around to keep an eye on things in general if there are issues.

Hint - do some research before going in, and pay attention to detail.

Hint 2 - Cleric damage rules.

Yes, it is intended that Shangalar does not have a phylactery. Tracking down phylacteries can be very important in this zone. Maybe it's elsewhere...

As for the vampiress, silly shaman, you should know that vampires don't have phylacteries. You haven't encountered the vampiress yet.

I would like to congratulate the first group to finish the zone, and appreciate the patience once again with the little twitches. With exception to that last fight, everything seems to be working smoothly. I will be keeping a close eye on things as the next few runs are done.

Any ideas/questions/comments are appreciated. Except negative comments, which will be ignored of course.

Just a quick note guys - The changes to the zone have NOT gone in yet. This means that the last fight has not been fixed. If you decide to do the zone and try this fight, make sure I'm around first. I can manually make the changes once you pop the fight.

"Ah yes, my hapless minions. I must thank you for doing my dirty work for me.
Especially after this waste of flesh was unable to do the job."

He makes a rude noise. "Paladins, eh? Oh well, no matter."

"I had to teach my compatriots that I was in charge. Some of them were
attempting to rise above their station. I'm so glad that you would listen to
this 'poor old beggar' as to where they lived."

"If you don't mind, please hand over Sapphiraktar's phylactery. He has been
taught his lesson, and he is still valuable to me. Give me the phylactery,
and I shall depart with my new paladin friend here. Or, you can try to fight
me to get past. I don't recommend that option, however."

"Give me the phylactery, or try to kill me. It is your choice. I will not wait
long for your answer."

You give a small phylactery covered with crackling electricity to the slovenly bum.
"That's a good adventurer. You know your place as well."

He bends over and traces a rune on the back of the comatose paladin. He then
looks back over his shoulder as he walks away.

"Koaxneggroth, please remove the trash. We can't leave any witnesses."

I've never liked zone quests or mechanics that are written so once the first group solves it, you never do it again. Think long term challenge please, not short puzzle that will only be solved once.

Re: Murder in Calimport

Nope, this has a very specific purpose.

The zone has a plot, and like any choose-your-own adventure, sometimes you choose...poorly. Of course evils can go to this zone, but following the plot you're helping out a paladin. Supposedly, you're supposed to be 'heroic.' You think you should be rewarded for leaving the paladin to his fate? That is the RP reason for the quest.

There is a mechanics reason for it as well, however. The 2nd to the last fight can go poorly. With a good group, it shouldn't, but anytime you're dealing with liches you can have bad luck. The last fight blocks your way out. If you have the wrong combination of people die, it can be very difficult to get them back to do the fight for the equipment. Players may be forced to use the quest to simply escape, rather than do the more difficult fight.

Yes, it sucks for the first group to discover this, however it does serve a purpose, both for mechanics and for RP/plot. It is not simply a short term puzzle. It's just something that will rarely be used, and preferably (from the group's standpoint) not at all.

Duly noted. I typed a post but figured it doesn't matter b/c of your last line. Beta testing done. The zone is pretty doable with the right group makeup. I hate how we have to depend on rares for an item above 3 and to finish the epic quest.

Dugmaren,

You once told me you were never ever going to make me cry, nor were you ever going to hurt me. I'd be perfectly content if at least 1 rare loaded per run. This would keep the loot count to 4, which is similar to SM and GF amirite?

I already talked to Call, but I'll post it up here too. I feel like the bulk of the rewards are too unfocused to be good. What I mean is that you have +healing on an offensive mace, while neat for hybridization, is not probably the best min/max itemization. I like the gauntlets, I dislike the platemail because I dislike swapping gear just to get through tunnels/etc. a fly proc akin to volant band would be much more desirable.

I understand there are some changes coming for the spellbook etc which will be nice so I'll post up again once I play with some of it then.
