Necros raising undead
Necros raising undead
Why can't necros raise undead? If i'm fighting a spirit why can't i bind its soul and use it for my own?
It will be fixed in Toril 2.0.

Ok guess that confused me.. carry on I'll ignore your ramblings. And just a FYI I don't give a damn enough about you to keep track of your characters.

Dalar's Question: Why can't he re-raise undead pets that get killed. When you try to cast 'animate (insert undead here)' on a corpse of an undead pet that died while under your control, you get a "you can't do that message"
A long time ago when I first suggested re-animating previously animated corpses, I also added that, when cast on an undead corpse, the spell should deduct levels from the previous level the mob was. Re-animating a level 35 wraith, and you get a level 30 wraith. That would make it very balanced in my opinion, and still allow us to raise death knights from crypts and such.
To keep it even more in balance, and to avoid silly things like the wraith of a ghast of a wight of a death knight, it should be a single 'reanimate' spell that's has level restrictions for the caster and corpse, etc, and will only bring the corpse back to unlife instead of making into any new kind of undead. 'The animated corpse of the death knight stands here'. If it was flagged wraith, it would be wraith, if it was flagged ghoul, it would be ghoul, with the corresponding skills/spells. I'm not sure if undead NPCs are correctly flagged to make this work, however. Just my thoughts.

Otherwise, you could just continually raise the same corpse over and over again when it died...
I wasn't aiming to keep my own undead 'alive'. In zones like spob that are filled with undead, I have very few targets to raise. I don't see why I can capture the soul of a ghost/spirit and turn it into a wraith/ghost that I can use. Also it would be hard to keep your undead alive this way I think because they can't soul bind themselves right?

My guess would be that if they are already ghosts/wraiths someone else has already captured their soul.
The way I'm understanding his question is that 'Why can't you raise, for example, a meilich(sp?) spectre or lich?' (I don't know which type of undead just rot when they die) I agree that if an NPC was undead from the start, you should get one shot to raise it, as with any other NPC. In some zones, if all the mobs are already undead, it'd be a bit of a pain to get extra critters.

There is something very wrong with this quote...I'm not sure what it is, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the whole keeping the dead alive thing. I always get confused when I talk about or with flesh creepers.
