Shouldn't the text be the other way around?

A black crow is now a member of Gythi and Company.
Gythi's body shimmers, then begins to re-form into a black crow.

Well, it should, but it's actually more work than it's worth to make it that way. A slight quirk in the programming logic, just ignore it. Image
