My first be gentle.

Postby Asup » Thu Jan 09, 2003 1:29 am

(My first offical role-play on these forums, suggestions or any comments welcome. This one is done with my rogue of course)

The Drow rolled off of the now warm hay pile and his skin responded with a shiver from the sudden touch of the cold stone-like floor. His eyes adjusted to small blooches all over the walls, obviously it was his own blood from hours of interogations. They would always hold a torch directly infront of his face as the coward would brutally beat him. The skin on his face was unbearably tender as he touched it and his mind began to wonder if he could survive another torture session. He wasnt sure where he was now or even how long he had been here, but he couldnt stay any longer. It was a simple matter of survival, and like in the drow cities you found a way to survive or you paid the price. His eyes bounced about the rooms objects until they landed upon the wooden chair in the center of the cell. As he inched closer towards the chair, he hesitated as memories flashed through his mind of what happened in it as he crawled towards it on his hands and knees. Almost if Lloth himself were smiling upon him he found nails staggering out from the wood which once held together the support beam to the legs. He attempted to bend the nails to make sure they were sturdy enough for picking a door, indeed they did not waiver under his press. He attempted to stand, and stumbled forward towards the door before dropping down upon his knees staring off into the keyhole. He slid on nail in first wiggling it around until it pushed in further and lifting the second one to place it directly ontop of the first. Before he could finish what he though he knew he was doing with the door his keen ears picked up the sound of feet brustling the stones on the stairwell up to the other end of his cell. His hands moved quickly to pull the picks from the door and he flung them over into the hay pile he had been sleeping on, and he himself rolled to the opposite corner cowaring. He sat for a second and began wondering if anyone was coming, right as he looked up to check the door again it was flung open. The room was lit up with a torch and his eyes ached as he smashed them shut. "Aww! Whats the matter does the light hurt? I bet not half as bad as the amount im going to smash your face in again" The man laughed menacingly at him and he shivered. The warmth from the torch got closer and now even with his eyes shut the light coming from the torch hurt. His mind went rampant, the beating had taken there toll and suddenly his body became warm, and he struck out in anger and pain at the source of the light. His hand burned for a second as his hand landed on the tip of the torch where the flame had been burning. It knocked the torch from the mans hand as he held it losely in his confidence, and he fumbled for it just as it slipped for the last time and tumbled down the stairs before it was finely dimmed. The room darkned up again and the drow could see perfectly as he stared into the dumbfounded and horrifacly scared mans eyes. The overlarge large human man grabbed for his dagger at his hip but found it was already gone, "H..." escaped his lips just as Zenab slashed his throat open and sprayed the blood across his face and roof of the cell. Zenab watched as the mans once secure head now simply dangled by its spine and the few layers of skin behind it. He smiled as he slammed by the mans still standing body and hurried down the stairs, he found that not only the stairs but the hallways were seemly empty as he scrambled through the maze of tunnels. After what seemed like hours of running he finaly found the gates which seemed to be built into the walls of the cave. He wondered if he was still in the underdark or had he been carried elsewhere. He scanned about his enviroment before he went outside of the gates and catch his breath while he analyzed the situation, as he thought hiding over in the corner of the outside gates suddenly someone yelled "Guards!" and the shuffling sound of armor could be heard now. He glanced up to notice that a walkway had been constructed into the top of the gates that dangled below the cave ceiling. He could not see the man that called his name as he to had been carrying a torch. "Xsa" was Zenab's thought as he watched this ball of blinding light fly through the air at him, he began running as hard as he could down the tunnels and the guards of course gave chase. He felt a sting slam into his shoulder and the armor clanging had come to a stop. He wondered but for a second and then continued his running. He ran into a dead end which his only option was up, he held his breath even with his lungs burning to make sure he could clearly hear his surroundings and to make sure the guards had truely ended their chase. His ears gave him the clear and he exhauled heavily looking upwards at the climb he would now have to endure. His arms burned and his uper legs ached as he was about half way up the tube, when suddenly his eyes stung and his mind had needles shooting through them. His grip to the wall loosened and he feel back eyes glazing over as he feel and landed flat on his back, arms and legs sprawled out. Right as he looked up he saw a spider coming down upon him from the top of the tube, and even as he shut his eyes the spider continued its decent upon him. "Usstan uil dossta ulu inbal quarval-sharess" was the last thing to leave him before he fell back into darkness.

His eyes opened slowly, he thought he had been dead for sure after the
fall. He didn't remember slipping off or how he got into this part of
the cave, but he sure did remember the cruel man that had beat him.
His body felt very cold and wet he looked down his body to see he had
been sunken into the mud. It had apparently rained while he was
unconscious and the dirt he had been laying in turned into a pool of
mud. He lifted one hand into the air as if examining it for a moment
making sure he was really there, after that he wiped rain from his
face after he slung the mud off his hand. When he tried to roll over
onto his stomach his body was racked with pain as his back sent
protest of his movement. His muscles were extremely sore after taking
such a fall and then remaining without movement for so long. He fell
onto his stomach pushing a pile of mud away from his face. He pushed
up keeping as straight as possible until he finally clambered back up
onto his feet, it didn't seem to hurt as much just as long as he
didn't do any intense movements. He stumbled towards the rock wall
once more, attempting to leave in the same manner as before. When he
tried to pull himself up though his muddy hand slipped from the rock,
after a moment of cursing he looked back down the cave which he had
ran here from. He thought for several moments before deciding he would
have to risk going back through the caves and finding an alternate
route out of this Lloth forsaken hole. He forced himself onward,
leaning against the cave wall and for the first time realized he was
shivering. Dazed, he walked for hours before his body finally demanded
a rest.
As he began to sit down his ears picked up the noise of a liquid
substance dripping, if water had found its way down to the cave then
there might be a way up.
After sitting down for several minutes he stood and walked without the
assistance of the wall towards the dripping noise, he came into a
large cavern where he found the water that had been dripping but it
was dripping into a large pool of water. Zenab walked to the edge of
the water and it felt like sand, he immediately removed his boots and
felt the sand crunch under his toes. It felt delightful and he began
to remove the rest of his cloth while sitting down being careful of
his back. He walked down into the water and it stung not a burning
sting but a tingling warmth sting. He smiled and continued to move
forward, he knew Lloth had been watching him. Zenab sunk his head under

and the water around him turned a murky brown before slowly clearing.
He popped his head back up and found a rock to sit in the water on as
he would clean his cloths next. The rough leather his cloths consisted
of came clean easily with the water and a bit of scrubbing, his hands
were wrinkly along with the rest of his body from the continued
exposure of water. He frowned and climbed out of the pool to find a
spot to lay his clothes out for them to dry, in the meantime he would
relax in the water to ease the pain in his back.
After returning to the pool, Zenab pondered for several minutes about
many things. Mainly about life and what would be laid out in front of
him, then realization set in and he wondered how he would get out,
then he looked down through the clear water and saw that it lead under
the rocks and he might be able to swim to another location. He quickly
jumped from the water, his back feeling alot better then before as all
his muscles were not clinched together, and put on only his pants and
hiding the rest of his cloths in the sand. He sighed a final time
before jumping back into the water, and swam under the rocks finding
that the watery cave only went straight up. He began to cup his hand
and thrash as hard as he could towards the top of the cavern. His
lungs burned and throat begged him to open and gasp for air but the
top was so close, his mouth opened and released the air from his lungs
as his body broke through the water and almost instantly sucking in a
full breath of air that ensued coughing. He let himself float there
while he gasped for several minutes.

Zenab balanced himself in the water and glanced about the area only
finding endless water, he turned in his spot using his arms as
guidance. He saw a shore and it was relatively close he swam slowly as
not wanting to exhaust himself and drown. After reaching the shore he
looked down it and saw a pier with two ships in its dock. One of the
ships appeared to be a merchant ship, it had crates and goods piled
high off of its deck while the other he wasn't sure. He walked towards
the ship, he wasn't sure what time it was and if the sun were to come
up he would be blinded. With every step forward the lettering on the
side of the other ship become more and more clear until finally he
read it silently to himself: "Spirit Raven." He had heard of this ship
before as a child rumours of it attacking weak ports, and capturing key

figures for ransom. Zenab didn't care either way, he had been through
alot and frankly it didn't matter what they could do to him. He climbed

up the peers ladder and looked about until he found a door and pushed
it open to step inside, he was another darkened cave. Though there
were people bustling about. He asked another drow what was the place
he was in and they told him he had entered Haven Port. Zenab's face
lit up with happiness as he knew where this was, Just north and west
of Doblyth Kyor. It may of not been his primer home but it was a drow
ruled city and he could get aided there. Zenab visited many of the
ports stores and shops noticing the ports hench men as they harassed
on gores. He found a closet and crawled in, looking for a place to
sleep were he wouldn't be bothered, just as he was beginning to fall
asleep the door slammed open and a female Drow entered with what
appeared to be two guards at her side. He snapped to a sitting up
position in surprise just as she spoke "Zenab, come with me!" He dared
not ask why as he knew it would result in only his own fate.
