Prosthetic Tail Success for Fuji the Dolphin

"A JAPANESE dolphin called Fuji is squealing with delight after receiving a prosthetic tail to replace the one that was amputated due to a skin disease."

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/s ... 95,00.html

And here is the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium's (english) project report webpage on it:

http://www.kaiyouhaku.com/en/news/05041 ... eport.html

THAT is fantastic.
Great to see modern technology being used in such a great way.

Thanks for the post!! It was exciting to read about that. Let's hope they make a real breakthru with the construction and attachment. :)

Well, that's disappointing. It doesn't even have torpedoes.

On a side note, I wonder how much money they spent developing and creating that prosthetic that could have been used helping human beings.

Other than food stamps and gift certificates, I am pretty sure money and money-like substances can be spent any way the wielder chooses. I just don't see why some refugee from a tuna net should get resources wasted on it.

Because dolphins are probably smart enough to know what's causing global warming...

People just arn't looking at the bigger picture! Once we hook up the remote control and have dolphins harvesting the worlds underwater food supplies you'll see the point!

You only say that because you've never tasted dolphin. As the song says, "maybe I'm a murderer, but I'm hungry and they're better off dead."
