Areas Sphere
Recently I've been posting or telling Eilistraee a bunch of bugs, mistakes, stat-issues dealing with different zones. Mobs that don't work as they should, quests, etc. Bottom line, it's not Eili's sphere, yet she still does alot.
Maybe its time to designate/promote/add someone to the Areas sphere that actually plays actively to help relieve some of the burden and actually get work done in regards to areas, mobs, quests, etc.
Just a suggestion.

Re: Areas Sphere
I failed Pascal. Twice. I took a LOGO course over the summer as a kid, and the LOGO turtle died on me. I got a VIC20 for Christmas one year, and for 2 years I would run infinite loops. If I knew a LICK of code, I would have volunteered ages ago. My condition callers on Zmud make anyone in group crash. You need someone who knows coding well.
Hey, I volunteered to help fix typos, but was turned down.

I programmed a mud onto my TI-86 complete with quests, shops, and a combat engine!
Re: Areas Sphere
You don't need one iota of coding knowledge to work on Areas.
Areas are contained in flat text files with a fairly simple to understand format. Usage of tools like TE and DE simplify this even further. I' m not suggesting you're the ideal candidate for what you recommended, Adriorn - just pointing out that you don' t need to be a coder to write zones. In fact, very few area makers over the years have had any working knowledge of programming.

In other words, working in Areas is boring.
Re: Areas Sphere
And writing code is exciting? You can do better than that Yayaril!

I've always found writing areas and coding to be pretty exciting, but to each their own

Re: Areas Sphere
Oh I know Shev, I wrote two zones for Homeland and one ages ago for some Swedish mud. But in the end, procs, scripts, etc., are all Greek to me. Gotta know that part too. Plus, without OLC, writing zones is a completely different monster.
Regardless, I think someone needs to be added/promoted/relegated/forced into the slot, and pronto.

Can Cyric chime in on this since this is his area? Cyric are there any plans for promoting someone to greater areas or a good single point of contact for us all? I think anyone who has zone issues at this point just goes straight to Eil a good 60% of the time and to Marth the other 40%.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Areas Sphere
And Marth has been MIA as of late, sadly.
Re: Areas Sphere
Cyric... yeah right. He makes Shev's 2 month MIA look like a quick beer run. We won't even talk about his contributions when he's not running loose on the streets. Why don't you just ask for Kia to come back?

Can I volunteer?
It will be fixed in Toril 2.0.

Re: Areas Sphere
So was there ever any further discussion about instituting an in-game editing system like Exile had?

[olc] Yes Sojourn has sweet on-line creation, no you don't have access to it. o_O

Due to a major catastrophe (nearly), OLC is offlimits to non-greaters.

Re: Areas Sphere
I for one have volunteered multiple times for both areas and coding when I played sent PM's emails the whole 9 yards was never once responded to except from Marthammor after 3 months of waiting for a response from Cyric. To each their own, I don't mind helping this game out, and in what limited time I have to relax I wouldn't mind running through fixing typos adjust that kind of items and fix quests. Yes this is a volunteer just let me know how I can be of assistance, would like to see this place get some loving.
