Ashstone swords quest

Postby Gormal » Fri Jul 04, 2008 5:56 pm

So ridiculously difficult to complete since half the mud is working on it. This is not challenging or difficult; its simply a matter of if you're lucky enough to be there at the precise right time. I know it was too easy before, but the solution ended up causing a huge traffic jam of questors all fighting over the same mobs all day.

Yes, but the rewards are for *snicker cackle* RANGERS Muhahahaha.

Amazing Shev's a ranger, or was, and ...er, that's for another thread.

It's the possibility of not popping that I think screws it up. The randomness of which ones do pop is fine, but the non-pops kill it. I've seen two guys in several months, and both times the same one.

Ladies...this quest is way too easy for the reward given...the blade isn't even rare anymore as i understand it...if anything the quest should be made harder to justify the reward.

I don't have a problem changing the difficulty of the quest... because it currently has none. Sitting around waiting for rares on a ridiculously long timer is just a way to artificially create "difficulty".

As opposed to what? months of retarded farming the same mobs until the item you want loads?

At least the majority of the bloodstones quest can be done solo, you're not constantly needing others for an individual pursuit quest. So what if it involves sitting around waiting for spawns... it's not like you guys have anything else to do.

I can't figure out if you're pissed because there's more than a few of them in game, thus reducing value, or that it's another time sink...

surely there are a bunch of other quests / problems more deserving of attention than this.

I would rather farm a mob than live in a zone because you have no idea if anyone else has checked it within the last NINE hours. If you can only play a few hours a day (normal people) than you cannot possibly do this quest. I'll also note for the unaware that this is not the original quest, its been changed.

Downgrade the item, not make the quest harder.
It will be fixed in Toril 2.0.

Can one of the gods look into why the blade was made normal load and not rare? It seemed like it was a good way to thin out the amount of people looking for the other mobs before.

Thanks

Yeah, the combination of a million blades and a more frustrating load method for the quest mobs has resulted in a clusterfuck of massive proportions.

The rarity had been removed on accident after a file copy overwrote it.

No it doesn't. If an easy quest yields a end-game item JUST because it has rare items, it shouldn't mean you should make the quest harder. Making the quest harder punishes the people who want to do the quest after it's been solved. Making the item less awesome punishes the people who did the quest without knowing what the reward was.... BUT you shouldn't expect easy quest = awesome reward.

Also, I think rare quests are incredibly stupid as it takes no skill in waiting for the MUD to reboot.

IF there is even a spawn that boot at all. The story behind the quest is fine, but the quest it self is about the lamest there is. Basically this quest is a big time sink, and like Gormal said with so many others working on the same quest for those few mobs that MAY pop it makes it ultra lame. Creativity >>> Rares

this was never an issue until the pop on blade became broken. with the blade being rare people rarely did manticores because it "Wasn't worth it" and then you'd have 1 or 2 people hunting the spirits. since Eil should be making the blade rare again the number of people working on the quest will dwindle.

Other solution is a god can take away all the blades in game and make the blade rare like it should of been, but that won't please people either.

Postby Adriorn Darkcloak » Tue Sep 02, 2008 11:05 pm

I just entered my fourth month questing these swords. I've been waiting for over a month for one mob to load, which I've only seen ONCE in FOUR MONTHS. Guild members have quested khanjaris, and I'm still waiting to do this quest? I'm the only one ever there, so it's not like I'm competing or other people check it, because no one ever does.

Can we check if the fourth mob I'm talking about is loading correctly? And if so, can it be fixed to actually load?

Thanks.

it's the rareload bullshit rate, broken or not, that is pretty undesirable. Not too many WoW type game players seem to tolerate slow progression. gah! Let alone the competition of others racing toward YOUR item

I quit b/c of how retarded the FK quest was. Wouldn't be surprised if people did the same for this quest. Shield still sucks too lol.

If you want difficult why not just make a fight thats freaking hard. Rare load for quest items is not difficult, its tedious.
Having said all that, the situation has been handled, so this thread is pretty much at an end. -Kossuth

This is still the dumbest quest in the game fyi. The most powerful ranger swords based entirely around one easy to kill (BUT OMG RARE) item, followed by months of sitting on your ass waiting for mobs to load. Stupid.
