Firefox vs. Chrome

Well? I vote FF, with lots of add-ons that give it Chrome's best features.

Chrome, then Opera then Firefox.

Sorry, just never liked Firefox... not sure what add-ins can give you a faster rendering engine either. :P

Lynx is clearly superior to all.

You're right Sarvis, Chrome is definitely faster and no add-in can supply that. Luckily, FF 3.1 ties or beats Chrome in most tests, and it's still a beta...so I'm not worried about that for now. Also, FF blocks a crap-ton of ads and flash junk with various add-ins, which DOES make many pages render faster.

Don't get me wrong, I love Chrome and considered switching altogether, but there's just too many things I'd miss. I can't stand the unified URL/search bar for one - sometimes I want to search Wiki or Amazon, not Google.

the only thing I do not like about chrome is the way it handles RSS links.

Pretty sure you can configure that so you type a letter to represent whatever you want to search with. Google is just the default. On the Basic options tab, just click "Manage" and you can set anything you want in there with a single letter for the keyword. (The defaults are the entire search engine domain for some reason which is a little silly...)

I don't like the tab order not saving, and a few other minor features from Opera but I haven't really looked back.

I use IE6 for the same reason I still play Toril.

I find chrome freezing up on me quite often. If it had an adblocking capability like adblock or even block content from opera i might use it more.

I had Chrome up and die on me several times. Either it doesn't play well with some plugins or some plugins don't play well with Chrome. Either way, time and a decent marketshare will sort those out.

Btw, for those of you saying "but Chrome is in Beta," freakin' gmail is still in beta. Chrome may follow the same path.

No one is defending Chrome by saying that. You realize that, right?

Of course not, you'd have to have some contact with reality to do so...

I discuss the issue, not the conversation.

My reality, Sarvis, seems both closer at hand and more interesting than yours. Feel free to limit what you post to only what others say in one place. I'm just not that limited.

So you're so desperate for an argument you're trying to start one with people that aren't here?

Yep, back to not replying to you then. Enjoy yourself!

Interesting response, but very little substance. I think you're the one trying to start an argument when you think you have something, but this time, like many others, you came up with nothing.

Happy to point out when you don't have an argument.

Look at the logo on the website.

You're right, it was the announcement that gmail was being opened to the general public and no longer invite only (which I believe they said that would happen when it came out of beta) that made me think it wasn't beta any longer. I don't log in through the main page so I never see it.

I was surprised myself. You'd think after 2+ years of operations with millions of clients they could take the beta part off.
