Re: Mud is Down :(
cheers Dug,
if it's no hassle, could u possibly regularly arrange for the mud to have a temporary down, then up again moment in about a day or 2, then again a day or 2 after that etc? That'd be sweet. Don't need an exact time or anything, just a rough week / month when its going to happen.
tah,
Tai.

Can anyone decipher this code for me? I'm afraid I don't have a decoder ring.
But judging from the past few months, I'm guessing it's some sort of veiled insult.

Re: Mud is Down :(
surely as the lord of knowledge Og, you don't need my help deciphering this.
in simpler terms, I would love to not have to wait another 87 hours for the mud to be rebooted. If you're someone who has any influence over such power, then i guess you can interpret it as a general insult??? If not...then not?

Re: Mud is Down :(
it doesnt make much sense to reply to a thread about a crash, that mud doesnt reboot often enough.
has there been that many long boots recently? i thought if anything, the mud has been crashy lately.

Re: Mud is Down :(
define 'that many'?
Players have been asking for more than a decade for a regular rebooting system to be implemented here. We go through phases where someone is paying attention, and the mud gets rebooted inside 40 hours regularly... or new code is going in..and it's crashy.. and the issue dies down again... until the next time it crops up. The particular crash refered to in this thread followed on from almost 100 hours of uptime. I logged in 4 nights in a row after work to find 20 zombies in VT, 1 areas writer and someone making 100 arrows 1n of the auction board. I mean seriously... how blatantly do people need to be told that the way you handle this is just plain inneffective. Is it intentional that the mud lives for 5 hours a day, then dies again when the prime timers go to bed?

Re: Mud is Down :(
Sorry Tai,
gotta disagree for the square.
100 hours or 120 hours then an auto boot.
cause im kind
if i had it my way it would be 80% zones done...autoreboot...
dof course auto reboot...hrm...what if ppl are in zone...or questing something...like topaz gems...or runaways...reboots have to be planned and delibrate (barring a crash)...which
can be "timely" as well. But every 48 hours...when alot of the content is untouched...just so ppl can log in search rares and begone...naw...that would just not work at all...cause too many ppl would loging at the appointed time...rape rares...twink rares...and be gone .
Not knowing when the reboot will come does alot for keeping ppl honest...andgives other ppl a chance to discover, stumble, hunt down some of the stuff that they would never have a chance to if there were set times for reboots.

Re: Mud is Down :(
Looks like the mud has hung, while we were in Izans again. General was about to die.
Edit: came back up within several mins.
Seems to be running ok.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Re: Mud is Down :(
I couldn't debug it while hung - it was pretty bad. If anyone has any idea why it may have been hung please let me know via email or PM.

Re: Mud is Down :(
If the mud doesn't actually crash, there is no file to look through to debug. So if there was someone on and doing something when it hung, send him an email or PM saying what you were doing at the time so he can look into the code in those areas to try to track this down.
