Couldn't Even Get the Language Right

Postby teflor the ranger » Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:14 am

Congressional Democrats were furious when they learned that some insurers disagreed with their interpretation of the law.

Couldn't this backfire?

If someone with a child with a pre-existing condition is denied. Then they sue and win?

Assuming a court agrees with the democrats that is.

The only worthwhile part of the article:
“The concept that insurance companies would even seek to deny children coverage exemplifies why we fought for this reform,” said Representative Henry A. Waxman, Democrat of California and chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Besides, differing interpretations are absolutely a given in complex legislation (all law for that matter). That's why there is a rule-making process.

14 State attorneys general also disagreed enough to sue the Federal government. They're not all Republican.

It seems you can fight for reform all you want, but you still have to follow the constitution.

The language? lol, they couldn't even get the bill right. Before they even sent it to the president they had already debated and agreed upon a follow up bill to fix it? That has to be a new low in American politics. Ignore 40-50% of the people, then pass a load of crap that has to be fixed before the ink is dry.

Nothing wrong with that, just ask Microsoft or any game developer. Hell, TorilMUD is still being patched after decades! :P
