Purple Worm Proc

Postby Jurdex » Sat Feb 23, 2002 9:58 am

All instant death procs are bad for the mud.

Liches with paracs and dracolich? Fun.

Purple Worm and Jot Worm procs? Stupid. (Especially jot worms, can lose yer eq) Not fun.

Now that major para makes mobs aggro, how about making earth elementals immune to the proc? It makes little sense that the worm can swallow a huge earth elemental whole. (Or a treant for that matter)

Also, making major para aggro only further hindered the purple worm/drow area. Now, people just teleport into the drow to twink it, at least before the zone was done straight up.

Personally I think the purple worm fight is fun. It's just one of those fights where you have to lead with your mind rather than charging with your face. It's easily doable with a 3-man group, and generally pretty risk free.

I do agree, however, that jot worms shouldn't do what they do to your eq. It's a huge risk to an entire set of eq, which is a bit harsh imo.

er wait a minute? i thought i seen some of you guys posting on the 'eq sink' thread a few months back, on the opinion that thre is too much gear in the game already?

i do NOT agree with that assessment, as i dont have as much time as some of you school kids to play and get/keep my gear.

but the overwhemling response to that thread was 'find a way to take everyone gear away from them' so i doubt theprocs will go away.

On the topic of earth elementals.

They should be immune to poison.

They should be immune to 'gulp' procs.

But if you think about it, so should all the other forms. You basically have no metabolism. All elementals in 3rd edition are immune to crits, poison, etc, because of this fact.

So it might be unbalancing/too-hard-to-decide which form gets what.

Glorishan, major para aggros the worm so it can still eat the mage.

Not to mention it takes forever to para it.

shrug.. nothing special jurdex. You just send small pets at him and have nukers go in and flee when pet is eaten. repeat.

Jurdex,

Yeah its not foolproof. Sometimes he will double proc and get your nuker right after he casts. But overall, it usually works with less deaths than if you bring a big group and do him straightforward. One important thing there I think is to tell your group not to be greedy. abort and flee midcast even if you have one * remaining would be the right way of playing it for instance.

also, small, unvitted pets are a must to keep him from healing himself. I'm not so up to date on mephits so I dont know how they would work, but shades work perfectly.

For the record, I also tend to agree that instant death procs are kind of lame.

I agree that the fight is too hard to get the key to get to that area for the mediocre item. Of course everyone will just tele past.

Dunno, Got glori his bladder with no deaths doing small pet method with 3 people. Technically two cuz cleric sits on his ass for the most part. The first time we did it tho the enchanter died like 3 times, so I didnt bring an enchanter the next time I did it. For the most part there shouldnt be deaths as long as everyone knows how to abort/flee.

Also for some reason always thought major para was agro. Use to cause the mob to try to bash you also, even if he was on the ground. Too much twinking possibilities if that spell wasnt agro.

Death procs are lame if unavoidable (ie if you enlarge you can avoid being eaten). Almost death procs are also lame (lich).

Asamoth - Glori will pshift clouds next time he pshifts prime!
