This time they fixing the pcorpse problem by nuking anyones corpse older than 5 days or multiples.. so if ya had 2 or more fresh corpses ya only got 1 now ..
But thats better than the other option which was to do a pfile restore from 36 hours ago..
and they did say it would take "1 GOD HOUR!" to fix the prob..

In my zeal to play mud again, I managed to catch it in the 1 second or so after the reboot before the wizlock took place and I was disconnected again. Here's the new MOTD:
Welcome to Sojourn III Beta!
READ THIS: CORPSES LOST
Due to a totally unavoidable system error, all player corpses have been wiped
as of Monday afternoon. We deeply regret having to do this, but there was no
other solution short of a pwipe to fix this widespread corruption. We have
a list of all the corpses that were destroyed however, and we will be recreating
corpses for all 40th level and above players automatically. If you feel you
lost a corpse and deserve a reimb, please contact an admin and they will
assist you.

Todrael's posts above are correct. There was a system error with Unix timestamp which caused corpses to start loading duplicates or disappearing. In order to fix the issue for the future, we were forced to nuke all the corpses on the mud. Read the news/motd and talk to an admin if you feel you should get a corpse back. We did not want to have to do this, but the alternative was to restore back to Saturday midnight, which got overwhelmingly voted down, and may not have fixed the problem either. This was the lesser of two evils, but a lot more work for us, which we happily did. Sorry it took a bit long, but appears to be fixed now.
