experience

Postby Corth » Sun Apr 01, 2001 12:52 am

It occurred to me that if newbie experience was as difficult to get when I started out, as it is now, there is now way I would have ever gotten addicted to sojourn.

Weird, from as far as I can tell, experience is a lot easier than I remember. I thought I'd be stuck on level 1 for several days, but from working with moderate size groups, the levels seem to have breezed right past. I thought that it may have been that I chose to play a rogue, but the who lists dictate otherwise, with many casters being level 5+.

Yayaril:

Last pwipe, a group of 5-6 people that I was with was able to get level 10+ the first evening without much difficulty.

Newbie experience was changed substantially.

As far as experience go Kelemvor said the exp did not change at all. I too felt it was change for the harder. But take into account that the combat system seemed to be geared towards more experienced player. Remember how warriors can solo those level 5 caribou coming down from MH to WD at level 1, it appears not to be the case. I'm sure they are still tweaking the combat system. I like to see certain class exp tables shorter like the enchanter class since getting damage exp seems to play a big role in your total share of exp and enchanters don't got much offense to speak off.

re : Thruar

Infact I made a grey elf ranger (with high dex) and managed to solo lvl 5 mobs (lucky punk) outside of town at lvl 1 with newbie eq. Elf dex/agi rocks at lower lvls.

Experience tables weren't touched. If there is a difference in leveling rate, which many seem to think their is, it's occuring because of something other than increased exp requirements or decreased mob exp since neither were changed. It's probably a result of the new combat engine.

Tempus.. something is up... i kill a unskilled mob 5-6 levels above me and get maybe >> or 3 of those.. and skilled mobs give alot more.. Unskilled mobs are not worth killing they give crap exp.. and skilled mobs are often to hard to kill.. thats the problem...

We also exp slower as mud seems to be at half speed or slower than most others I've recently tried , even Darkover seemed fast compared to S3. Yes I know some of the combat rows are gagged and so on but then it shouldnt mudlag when walking, talking, etc.

PLEASE DO SOMETHING BOUT THE MUDLAG!!!

Xps don't seem real difficult. The penalty on exps for groups seems to be less then I remember it. The only big problem is the mob switching which is a bug and will be fixxed (has watched many a mage go splat). I wouldn't mind the switching if rescue was semi-dependable, but even in our 4-5 tank groups we can't get most mages before they are bloody smears. Only other changes I'd like to see is the stumble rate drop, and memtimes on low level spells get tweaked a bit downward.
Goodwork love the changes so far,
Belle
