En Route (Sundara\'s Story One)

Postby Sundara » Sat Feb 16, 2002 6:57 am

Long ago........

A wagon traveled north on a harsh wintery cold night to Spine of the World Mountains with members of five people. Among them was a small child huddled in warm thick furs protected from the stinging cold. It had been weeks of travel from the city of splendors known as Waterdeep.

On this night when the stars were hidden within the fog that blanketed the skies nor the moon glowed its usual light, the party decided to camp for they were weary of their journeys. The horses neighed loudly as the driver held on to the riegns tightly.

Corian says with a loud voice, 'Whao boys....whao!.' The horses slowed to a complete stop and the wagon rested near a few boulders with tall trees scattered about. The wind picked up heavily and the snow covered the ground. Corian stepped down from the wagon and tied the riegns to a thick branch on a tree. The weather was much to harsh to bare that he tugged his thick furs about him tightly and a woman's voice can be heard from within the wagon shouting, 'is everything alright out there?' as she stuck her head out from the opening curtain for a peek. Corian replied, 'get back inside Linlay for the wind bites harshly!'

Eyes that squinted from Linlay's face she quickly did as Corian shouted. Two other men stepped down from the wagon and approached Corian. 'What seems to be the trouble here, brother?' Denlar asked. 'Its the horses.' Corian replied. The other young man by the name of Kelvor looked over to the horses, 'My god, that horse is in need of tending.' Corian went inside to grab some torches and lit them. Passing a torch to each human he says, 'keep the light up.'

Kelvor says, 'Uncle, we should move to a safer place.' Approaching the horse, Corian replies, 'we will, as soon as I can release the horses ankle. It seems to be stuck in some rooted vines here.'

Denlar says, 'Allow me to help, brother.' As he pulls a knife out from its sheath tucked within his belt. 'Hold this torch, brother.' Corian takes the torch as Denlar moves to the distressed animal and crouches cutting away at the tangled rooted vines around the horses ankle. Low grunting noise can be heard from beneath Denlar's breath as the rooted vines was much to thick and it took awhile for it to cut freely.

Corian decides to rest where they are and the men agreed to it for they were exhausted from their travels. Kelvor grabbed the flint and steel and set up a campfire near the wagon.

Linlay asks worriedly, 'how much longer to Icewind Dale?' Corian replies, 'soon love, soon.' Not happy with the answer, she sighed and tended to her child.

Been getting tells of my last name so here's a bump.
